Dr. Kelly Williams has been appointed as the next Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for Oak Ridge Schools. She has been serving as the Literacy Coordinator and Supervisor of Title I for the past six years. She will replace Dr. Tracey Beckendorf-Edou who is leaving Oak Ridge Schools to become the Superintendent of Cascade School District in Washington.

Dr. Williams began her work with Oak Ridge Schools as a Reading Specialist at Willow Brook Elementary in 2013. She previously worked for The University of Tennessee and as an elementary and middle school teacher in Philadelphia, TN. Dr. Williams has earned degrees from The University of Tennessee, Lee University, and East Tennessee State University. In addition to her work in education, she serves as a board member for CASA of the Tennessee Valley.

Superintendent Dr. Bruce Borchers shared that he “looks forward to working with Dr. Williams in her new role as she has worked closely with Dr. Beckendorf and has a great understanding of what it takes to be highly successful. I have no doubt that Dr. Williams will be an excellent leader in the Oak Ridge Schools.”

Dr. Williams is looking forward to continuing the great work of Dr. Tracey Beckendorf-Edou and expanding her support for teachers and students in Tennessee’s best school system. Dr. Williams will assume her new role at the end of this school year.
