59 high schools from across Tennessee participated in the Tennessee Science Bowl Saturday to put their science skills to the test.

The bowl is the nation’s third largest regional competition and was held at Pellissippi State Community College’s Blount County campus. The regional bowl prepares students to compete nationally with other students from across the U.S.

Oak Ridge High School placed first in the annual event and will have an all-expenses paid trip to the Department of Energy National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C. along with a first place trophy and $1,000 in cash. The national bowl will run from April 26 to April 30.
