Support Staff Application Requirements
Support Staff is an applicant type for all positions not requiring a Tennessee teaching license (i.e., secretary, custodian, teacher assistant, maintenance worker, technology staff, nurse, department manager/director/supervisor).
Thank you for your interest in Oak Ridge Schools. In order to be considered for employment with Oak Ridge Schools, you must first submit an online application. Online applications are required for current ORS staff as well as external applicants. You may view available positions and complete our online application here. You must complete the online application and answer the background questions in order for your application to receive consideration. Click on the Jobs Tab at the top of the application to view and apply for current open positions. Teacher Assistant vacancies are not posted individually. To be considered for available opening, indicate Teacher Assistant under Employee Preferences.
In addition to the completed online application, you must also attach the following documents to the résumé page to be considered for employment.
- Copies of Transcripts. Copies of your high school and/or college transcript are required, as applicable. If you have completed an Associates’ degree or higher from an accredited institution, you are not required to submit your high school transcript. You should only submit copies, as we scan the documents into your electronic application file, and then shred the copy submitted to us. Official transcripts will be required upon employment.
- Copy of ParaPro (Praxis) Score. (Applies to Teacher Assistant positions only at Title I locations). Submit a copy of your ParaPro test score if you are applying for a Title I Teacher Assistant position and do not have at least 48 semester hours from an accredited college/university.
- Copy of License/Certificate. Attach a copy of any license and/or certificate required for jobs for which you are applying (i.e. driver’s license, CDL, CDA, nursing license). You should also submit a copy of a valid CPR/First Aid certificate if required by the specific position for which you are applying. In the Jobs tab you may view the job description which will include any such requirements.
- Reference Forms. Names of your references are required to be submitted as part of the application. You may attach reference letter(s) if you wish.
Your electronic application will be kept active in our system for one (1) year from the date you last submitted and/or updated your application. Be sure to keep your online application updated as you gain additional experience or education or wish to modify your personal information or references.
Non-Staff Coaching Application Requirements
Thank you for your interest in coaching with Oak Ridge Schools. Many coaching assignments are given to Oak Ridge Schools employees, however, there are times when coaches are hired strictly for their coaching abilities and are not expected to have full-time employment with the district.
If you are applying for employment only as non-staff coach, there is not a separate application strictly for a coaching position. Complete the support application and note the preference for coaching in the Employment Preference section. When submitting professional references, please ensure that you include those who may provide reference about your previous coaching experience.
