College, Career, and Technical Education courses are offered for all students in the Oak Ridge Schools. We encourage students to enroll in coursework that interests them, including seeking non-traditional career paths. Because we support all students, this includes offering additional support as needed for those who are English learners, in special populations, are single parents, in foster care, economically disadvantaged, and/or in need of work, as well as students who are dependents of parents in active military services.
We use college and university partnerships, industry partners, Indeed, LinkedIn, and TDOE resources to advertise hard-to-fill positions. Once hired, staff are supported with district-wide professional development as well as opportunities that are tailored for CTE-specific needs such as Educator Preparation Programs for pedagogy training, Occupationally Licensed New Teacher Training for those seeking initial licensure, and ongoing supports such as the CTE Summer Institute, ACTE, and other conferences/trainings related to the career cluster in which the teachers are serving.
