Remember, we do not send home paper midterms. You will receive a Skyalert message on Friday reminding you to take a look at Skyward. Midterms are a point in time snapshot of what your student's grades looked like at the end of day on Wednesday. If you have questions about grades, please reach out to your student's teachers.
The JMS Spelling Bee is just around the corner. We have 55 students qualified to participate in the school bee this year. The link for the students who qualified to study is linked below.

We are finding ourselves pushing toward our mid-term of Term 2, and our classrooms are alive with learning and engagement. Please continue to check Skyward and Canvas for grades and class assignments as we push toward our Thanksgiving break.
We strive to inform, celebrate, build community and bring awareness as we work together for your child. Be sure to take some time this week to pause, enjoy some cider or explore a nature path. Be filled with gratitude. We are certainly so grateful for our families!
Report cards for Term 1 were distributed on Friday. Please be sure to look it over with your child to help address any areas that may be in need of improvement. Teachers have been utilizing the Individual Student Reports from our MVP benchmark #1 to help your child set personal goals for their core classes.
Welcome back! We hope you have had a fantastic Fall Break. We have been busy at JMS. Even when students are out, we are here. We have made this newsletter MUCH shorter than usual. Be sure to check it out as we have two very big happenings this week.
With one final week before end of the first term, we wanted to thank you, JMS families, for your support this term. As we help our students finish strong, teachers have posted deadlines for make-up work before grades are due. Your student's Canvas pages should have details. The Newsletter will take a couple of weeks off, but you should receive one on the weekend before we start back on October 17th.

At Oak Ridge Schools we are committed to continuous improvement and look for tools that assess how we're serving our students and discover areas for us, as educators and administrators, to improve. One of the best ways to do that is by using surveys to gather information directly from our students. According to Senate Bill 1443/House Bill 0727, we are required to make you aware of a couple of surveys that your student will be asked to complete this year.
