Fifth Grade

The curriculum for the fifth grade includes a core curriculum of English/language arts, mathematics, reading, science, and social studies. In addition to the core curriculum, students receive instruction in art, computer/keyboarding, music, and physical education. Fifth grade students may elect to take orchestra, band or chorus.

Sixth Grade

The curriculum for the sixth grade includes a core curriculum of English/language arts, mathematics, reading, science and social studies. In addition to the core curriculum, students receive instruction in art, diversified technology, music, physical education, and teen living/family and consumer science. Sixth grade students may elect to take orchestra, band, or chorus. Sixth graders participate in a special three-day environmental program and other field trips related to the curriculum.

Clubs, activities and intramural sports are available to fifth and sixth graders. Interscholastic sports are available to sixth grade.

Seventh Grade

The seventh grade core curriculum incorporates required courses in English/language arts, life science, math, history and world geography. Additional required curricula (some variation between schools) include instructional units or courses in art, diversified technology, music, physical education, and teen living. Seventh graders may elect to take a combination of the following courses/activities (some variation between schools): band, chorus, computer technology, diversified technology, French language, journalism/creative writing, keyboarding, orchestra, Spanish language, and/or teen living.

The eighth grade core curriculum incorporates required courses in American history, English/language arts, math, and physical/earth science. Additional required curricula (some variation between schools) include instructional units or courses in computer technology/keyboarding, diversified technology, family and consumer science/teen living, and physical education. Eighth graders may elect to take a combination of the following courses/activities: art, band, chorus, computer technology/keyboarding, diversified technology, French language, journalism-creative writing, keyboarding, orchestra, Spanish language, teen living/teen issues, and/or woodworking.
