Mathcounts team competed in the Chapter competition Saturday February 24th at UT Knoxville. Those that competed were Sidney Ozcan(8th), Jacob Southern (8th), Emily Moran (7th), Dylan Christensen (7th), Anshra Ajaz (7th), Grace Han (7th) , Brian Qu (6th), and Owen Southern (6th). There are seveal rounds with the Math Counts. The first round is called the Sprint Round which was a non calculator event. Next wea Target round which consisted of 8 problems. Then there was the team round. The students competed in the team round were Sidney, Dylan, Emily, and Jacob. The team placed 3rd overall in the team scoring. Sidney Ozcan placed 4th overall and Dylan Christensen placed 3rd overall and both qualified for MathCounts State Competition which will be held in Nashville March 17th. There was also a 4th round which is called the Countdown round where the top 12 competed head to head. WE had three students compete in this round. Jacob, Dylan, and Sidney. It was very competitive round and Dylan ended up winning this round.
