The judging for this year’s ORHS English Department Scholarship resulted in a tie, so the two first place entrants, Kannon Green and Gus Morrill, will each receive a $500 first place award. In their entries, they eloquently discussed the power of the written word and the importance of communicating effectively. Kannon plans to pursue her education in the fall at College of Charleston majoring in early childhood development, and Gus will major in English and journalism at Middlebury College. M. Feuer

The Driving Center is now registering for summer, fall and winter break classes.  Driver Education classes include 30 hours of classroom instruction, along with six individual driving lessons.  Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate, which often reduces car insurance by as much as 25%.  Courses are taught in a fun and engaging way here in Oak Ridge at 130 Bus Terminal Road.  Visit www.thedrivingcenter.org for details or call 865-482-6700.
