Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

ORHS Calculators that have been rented for this year will be collected on the following dates during your Math class:  Seniors, Monday May 20th , All others on Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, 29th.

Calculators should be returned in clean, working condition. Students who have lost or broken calculators will be charged.  (F) – J. Zimprich

The Driving Center is again offering Driver Education Classes during summer break. There are two classes starting June 5th and June 24th. Please visit their website at thedrivingcenter.org for further information.

Yearbooks will be on sale until they sell out on Friday, May 17, for CASH ONLY during the 8th period assembly.  On that day, you may pay with $85 cash to buy a yearbook until there are none left.  We fully expect to sell out. (Th) – B. Byrd

SERVICE HOURS & TN PROMISE VOLUNTEER HOURS AVAILABLE

 

Seniors still needing TN Promise community service hours before July 1st: Linden’s Lions Pride Team will be hosting School Clean Up Days this coming Saturday, May 11th and again on Saturday, May 25th from7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. They will also host this on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of June (8th and 22nd)

No need to sign up, simply SHOW UP! Water and hand sanitizer provided but bring a rake, shovel and/or broom and complete your hours for TN Promise and help Linden Elementary look GREAT in the process!

TN Promise students can earn 4.0 hours of service at the Department of Public Works Open House.  You would be helping set up for the event and then working various booths during the Open House.  You will need to report to Tasha Pitsenbarger at the Central Services Complex (100 Woodbury Ave.) on Thursday, May 23 at 4:00pm and should be out of there by 8:00pm.  Please call Tasha at 425-1875 if you have any questions. Join Philosophy Club after school this Friday in Mr. Pickering’s room (LC322) for our final meeting of the year. We will be discussing the philosophy of education and wishing our seniors well as they move on to their next adventures! (F) – A. Pickering

 

The Youth Advisory Board is accepting applications for the next year.  The term of office begins on August 1st, 2019.  Participation on the City of Oak Ridge YAB requires attendance at bi-monthly meetings on Wednesday afternoons and also at special events throughout the year.  All interested students are encouraged to pick up an application in the Guidance Offices at JMS and RMS, the Student Affairs Office at ORHS, or at the Front Desk of the Civic Center.  Application requirements include being an Oak Ridge resident and a student that is entering 8th-12th grade.  Applications will be due by May 17, 2019 to the locations listed above.  For any further questions, please contact Matt Reedy at 425-3450. Student Council is offering a $2000 scholarship to one senior graduation this May. Student Council is now accepting applications for Seniors who have positively contributed to Oak Ridge High School and the Oak Ridge Community. Applications are outside the door of LC 331, Mrs. Wagner’s room and are due no later than Friday May 17th. (Tu, W, Th) – A. Wagner

The Tennessee Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon will award $6,500 in scholarships to the incoming 2019/2020 male freshman class.  Students attending the University of Tennessee-Knoxville this fall can apply.  The application takes approximately 15 minutes and applicants are under no obligation to join a fraternity.  Please go do www.tnalpha.com to complete your application.  The deadline is June 14, 2019.
