Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

 

STUDENT INFO

 

All current ORHS students are invited to attend the 6th annual back to school bash on August 1 at Blankenship Field from 5pm-7pm.  Join us for kickball, relay races, arts & crafts and more! There will also be a taco truck and Kona ice truck on site for food purchases.

 

We are in DIRE need of 15 more hosts for our German friends who are arriving on September 10th and need a place to stay. If you’re interested in hosting a German exchange student please see Mr. Kolodney in CS 213 ASAP to get all the information. They’re here for two weeks, will be gone for 5 of those days, and it’s essentially FREE to host! Help us make their experience a trip to remember!

 

Picture Day for 9th-11th graders and faculty and staff will be this Friday, July 31st in the auditorium.  Students will be called down by the first letter of their last name throughout the day.  Teachers can get their picture taken during their plan period. If you have 5th block plan, remember to go before 2pm.

 

Students, if you are a car rider, the permitted Drop-Off & Pick-Up areas are the front of the school loop, in the right-hand lane, located on the Oak Ridge Turnpike side of the building and in the Wildcat Arena Parking lot located off Providence Road. Please be sure to exit and enter vehicles promptly to keep the car lines moving efficiently.  Students may NOT be dropped off or picked up in the bus loop or the teacher parking lot located on Providence Road.

 

Students are reminded that the ORHS Marching Band uses the parking spaces closest to the Turnpike for Marching practice in the afternoons.  Cars parked in those areas after lunch are subject to being towed.

Are you ready to design your own parking spot? Student Council is hosting the annual Parking Spot Painting, available for current Juniors and Seniors. Parking spot applications are opening this Wednesday, July 29th, and are due Friday, August 7th. Those with completed applications will then choose their spot through a lottery system on August 12th. Spot painting is on the 14th and 15th of August weather permitting. Make sure to stop by LC311 to pick up your form.

¡Atención estudiantes hispanohablantes! Are you interested in making a difference while using your Spanish skills?  Join us for the English Language Friends program!  This opportunity is open to native Spanish speakers or students who have completed at least through level 3 Spanish. The English Language Friends Program is part of an after-school program at Willowbrook Elementary, where high school students serve as mentors for 3rd grade English Language Learners.There will be an interest meeting for the English Language Friends Program on Thursday, July 30th at 3:15 PM in Mrs. Golden’s room, CS 300. Come learn more about how you can help younger students, build leadership skills, and make a positive impact in our community. We hope to see you there!

 

Interested in helping lead the Dungeons & Dragons Club this year?

We will meet briefly on Friday, July 31, from 3:15–4:00 p.m. to plan our adventures, activities, and goals for the year ahead. This meeting is open to any student who wants to take on a leadership role, including:Club officers Students who want to be DnD leaders or Anyone interested in trying their hand as a DM, also known as the Royal Dungeon Master. No previous leadership or DM experience is required. Bring your ideas so we can plan for this year.

 

Masquers, the ORHS after-school theatre club, will have their first informational meeting today from 2-2:30pm in the auditorium. Come find out how you can be involved on stage and backstage! If you are interested in auditioning for the Fall Play – Sense & Sensibility, stay for our audition workshop from 2:30-5. For more details visit orhsmasquers.com.

Seniors…. your first official event hosted by Senior Steering is happening this Friday morning, July 31st.  Come out and join your peers to celebrate your final year of high school at Senior Sunrise.  The fun begins at 6:10 am at the ORHS practice football field. Bring a blanket or towel to sit on if you want.
