STUDENT INFO

It’s that time of year…Prom Season!! Prom will take place in the Wildcat Arena on Saturday, April 26, from 7:30-11:00 pm. Prom tickets will be on sale in April for TWO WEEKS ONLY! You must pay with CASH or CHECK, NO CARD PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Tickets are non-refundable. If you buy your tickets early, you will get an Early Bird Discount!  The prom board will be selling tickets in the concession stand outside of the Wildcat Arena during third block to JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS ONLY. No freshman or sophomore students will be allowed to purchase a ticket.

Early bird tickets are $40.00 per person and will be sold from Tuesday April 1st – Friday April 4th.  You may also purchase tickets for $50.00 per person from Monday April 21st – Thursday April 24th.

How would you like to spend your summer being a lifeguard for the Oak Ridge City Parks & Recs department?  Students must be 15 years old when the class begins; and swimming ability is required. Classes run April 3 – 6.  Applications can be submitted to www.oakridgetn.gov.  Contact Ms. Wooten at 865-485-3450 if you have questions. The application window for students who wish to join the National Honor Society is now open through Friday, April 11th. To be eligible, you must be a JUNIOR with a 3.8 weighted GPA. Please click on the link on your class canvas page or in the iNews to apply. If you have any questions, please see Dr. Thomas or Mr. Feuer.

Mark your calendar for the April 1st Business Expo right here in the ORHS Cafeteria from 5:30-6:30.

The ORHS Business Academy JA Companies will show off their 12 student businesses with products like bracelets, hand sanitizers, planners, sweets, gift baskets, flowers, fashion tees, promposal boards, & a specialty light for your phone charger!  You don’t want to miss this exciting evening of student entrepreneurship. Get a sneak peek at these student businesses at orhs-businessacademy.com. These businesses are open for sales April 1st – May 2nd.

Masquers’ Atomic Acts is performing next week on Friday, April 11th at 7pm in the auditorium. Join us for a series of 7 short dramatic and comedic plays directed by students and performed by Masquers veterans and newcomers. It is a great night of theatre supporting your friends as they direct or step on stage or backstage. Tickets are $5 at the door or online at orhsmasquers.booktix.com.

 

St Stephen’s Church will be providing lunches for Juniors and Seniors who wish to walk over today for only $3.

 

SENIORS

Seniors: The time has come to select speakers for the ORHS Class of 2025 Graduation and Convocation ceremonies.  Tryouts will be virtual this year. For specific information about how to audition, please visit the Class of 2025 Canvas page and find the announcement regarding tryouts. The deadline to upload a submission to Canvas is April 4 at 3:00pm

 

The ORHS English Department is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university. This year essays will be composed and submitted in person on April 9, after school from 2:15-3:15 in CS 319. To register, see Mr. Feuer in CS 319 for an application form. All responses will be anonymously reviewed, and a winner chosen by a committee of teachers across multiple subjects.

Seniors make plans to pick up your graduation supplies including your cap & gown set in room CS347 during lunch today. They will not be available prior to lunch.

You may have received an email from Jostens regarding graduation supplies. The time listed for pickup was incorrect. It should have said during lunch today from 11:37am-12:39pm.

Please come and join us for the Annual Senior Tea, Honoring The Class of 2025 on Wednesday, April 16, 2:15-3:30 in the ORHS cafeteria. Dress as an Author or Favorite Book Character, bring your costume to change into right after school, and hopefully win one of 6 gift cards. Cash prizes will also be given as door prizes just for attending!  Delicious light refreshments will be served along with tea and lemonade.  All Seniors are invited to attend the Tea and kick off the Senior Activities!  If you have any questions, email jzimprich@ortn.edu.

 

CLUB INFO

 

The School Wide Student Council meeting is tomorrow during 2nd period. 2nd period class representatives should report directly to the amphitheater with their student concern forms. See you there.

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have their first – yes, their first – meeting of the year at 7:10 in Providence house, across from Wildcat Arena on Friday morning.  FCA meeting will be held every Friday, and ALL students and staff – not just athletes – are welcome for a Bible devotion time that will often have athletic metaphors or themes.  Chick-fil-A biscuits will be served, so come if you are interested in food, Christian Fellowship, and a great message!

 

Sewing Club is cancelled for this week. We will meet again next Thursday as usual. Sorry for any inconvenience.

 

ATHLETICS

 

Powder Buff sign-ups are happening now. You can visit the sign-up table during lunch hour. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the table will be outside the Arena and on Wednesdays, the table will be in the cafeteria. The cost is $20 per player. Grab your friends and sign up to compete against the other grade levels! For more information, see a volleyball girl or Coach Ellis in LC 222.
