STUDENT INFO

 

 

The Environmental Club has two great opportunities to celebrate Earth Day next week!

Tomorrow, Saturday April 20th, we will hold a creek cleanup from 10am-12:30pm here on campus. We will have boots available for the creek. Please meet at the Wildcat Arena Parking Lot.

Monday April 22nd is Earth Day! Celebrate by wearing Blue or Green to school. Immediately after school Monday we will have yummy snacks provided in LC107 for anyone who joins us for litter cleanup on campus from 3:15-5:00pm. Please see Mr. Alexander with questions.  J. Alexander

 

HUGE THANKS TO ALL WHO DONATED BLOOD LAST FRIDAY! WE DONATED THE MOST UNITS EVER, TOTALLING 59! That is almost 200 lives saved!! Way to pay it forward, students and staff!!!! -Also, special thanks to the Clinical Intern students for helping host this wonderful event!  S. Minarik

 

Class Officer and Student Council elections will be held on Friday April 26th on Skyward. Grade levels vote for their representatives, and all students freshmen through junior year vote for the Student Council representatives. The polls are open 8am-2pm on 4/26, and the winners will be announced at the end of the school day.  A. Wagner

 

Calling all talented artists 9-12 grades!  Are you creative and love the Wildcat spirit?  We’re excited to announce a Convocation Cover contest for the Class of 2024!  Show off your artistic skills by designing a Wildcat-themed cover for our Convocation program. The winner will receive a $50.00 prize this year!  Submit your entries by April 19, 2024, to Miss Toler in LC 307. Prom Tickets will be on sale Monday April 22nd- Thurs April 25th in the Arena Kiosk for $40 singles and $80 for couples. Tickets will NOT BE SOLD ON FRIDAY OR AT THE DOOR. Tickets for Diamond of the Season, Prom 2024, will be on sale Monday April 22nd through Thursday April 25th and in the Arena Kiosk during 3rd period. Tickets WILL NOT BE SOLD Friday April 26th or at the door. The line is normally the shortest during the middle of 3rd and will close 5 minutes before the end of the period.  S. Dyer

SENIOR INFO

 

 

Student Council is offering a $500 scholarship to a deserving Oak Ridge High School Senior graduating in 2024. Applications can be found on the Wildcat Canvas Hangout page, and they are due on May 8th. The winner will be presented at the Powderpuff Games on May 10th.  A. Wagner

The ORHS English Department is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university. This year essays will be composed and submitted in person on Monday, April 29, after school from 3:15-4:15 in CS 319. To register, see Mr. Feuer in CS 319 for an application form. All responses will be anonymously reviewed, and a winner chosen by a committee of teachers across multiple subjects.  M. Feuer

Seniors, if you’re interested in taking the ACT Career Readiness Assessments in Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents you must register by April 26th.  The form to register and more information about the assessments can be found in your ORTN email.  The assessments are free and will happen in the Amphitheatre on Friday, May 3rd at 8am.

Are you a senior that has been in an art class? This is the call for entries for the senior art show, and your chance to showcase your work. Seniors may submit up to 2 of your favorite artworks made at ORHS to any of the art teachers by April 22nd. Works can be 2D or 3D. Visual Arts senior night is Friday, May 3rd from 6-7pm, in front of the auditorium.  H. Eades

All Seniors are invited to come join us on May 1st in the Food Court at 2:15 for The Senior Tea hosted by the English Dept. and ORHS PTSO. Enjoy tea, light refreshments, and socializing.  Dress as your favorite literary character or author to win door prizes!  J. Zimprich

Chuck Fleishmann will be hosting our annual Military Academy Day on Saturday, April 20th, 2024.  The event will take place at the UTC Student Center at 10:00am.  Everyone is invited to hear from Congressman Fleischmann, representatives from five military academies and college ROTC programs.  A.
