The Wildcats for Change will be hosting a school wide game night 9/15/21 in the food court.   Bring your favorite board game and money for the food truck and we will see you there!

Track 2021-2022 Information Meeting for Parents will be held Tuesday September 21st in the amphitheater at 6pm.  New athletes and parents must attend. Track Sign up is at LC 308 or better known as Coach Sauer’s Room.– T. Sauer

 

Students are reminded when completing an assignment in the OR Database that they should submit a completion form on the teacher’s Canvas page.  Failure to do this may leave you on the OR roster!  Please check each Canvas page to make sure you know the location of the OR submission form! –  S. Student Council: Calling all Kings and Queens!  Nominations for this year’s Homecoming Court will be held on Monday, September 20th! FALL FORMAL – The fall formal will be held on Saturday, September 25th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Oak Ridge from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.  Only ORHS students may attend.  Tickets are $20 and may be purchased during lunch starting Friday, September 10th in the front lobby of the school and will be sold through September 24th.  Get your tickets fast before they sell out!  Tickets will not be sold at the door. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 will both be given on Wednesday November 10th. These exams are the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the International Mathematical Olympiad. The AMC 10 and 12 are 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examinations in high school mathematics.  This year there will be no charge to take the exam. The deadline for registration is September 17th. Students that register but do not take the exam will be charged $3.  Please see the link in your email to register. CLUB INFO

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet at Providence House across from the Wildcat Arena parking lot at 7:10 on Friday morning.  All are welcome to hear a message from the Bible, which will be delivered this week from Lee Younger, who is a pastor at Christ Community Church and a Young Life Leader.  Chick-fil-A biscuits, donuts, and chocolate milk will be served. Bonjour! The French Club-Le Cercle Français-will have their next meeting on Thursday 9/16 from 3:15-4 in LC304. All French students are welcome-if you are taking classes now or next semester. COUNSELING INFORMATION

 

The Park Scholarships program provides a four-year scholarship to NC State University awarded on the basis of outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. This scholarship is valued at $208,000 for out-of-state students, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses. Grants to fund professional and personal enrichment experiences, such as research projects, service activities, and conferences in the United States and abroad. Guaranteed invitation to join the University Scholars Program or University Honors Program for all Park Scholarships Finalists.  The program includes mentoring, retreats, learning labs, etc.  If you are interested in being nominated for this scholarship, turn in your name and a brief statement as to why you should be considered for this opportunity to the Counseling Office no later than October 1st.  (M, W) – A. SENIOR SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST:  Please submit your designs for the Class of 2022 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Tuesday, September 28. (9.15/17/) – T. Ledden

 

SENIORS:  Official transcripts will be ran Wednesday, September 15 for all seniors.  If you have not turned in your forms, please turn them in to the School Counseling office ASAP.  If you turn your forms in after official transcripts are ran, your transcript will be corrected but your decile ranking will not change. SENIORS – Please make sure you are checking your Class of 2022 Canvas page for important information and announcements.  If you are using the Common Application, make sure you turn in your Student Information Sheet to Mrs. Taylor and request that two teachers complete the Teacher Comment Form for Mrs. Taylor as well. Seniors, are you interested in the University of Virginia?  The Jefferson Scholarship provides the entire cost of attendance, and many supplemental enrichment experiences, at the University of Virginia.  If you are interested to be ORHS’s nominee for this scholarship submit a resume and a personal statement as to why you should be chosen to Ms. Taylor by Friday, October 29th. The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is participating in Tennessee Application Week!  Seniors can all use the code TN2022 anytime from 9/12/21-9/19/21 to waive our normal $30 application fee and apply with us for free at uah.edu/apply. (M,W,F 9.17) A. Campbell
