Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

 

All students are required to wear their ORHS badge visibly on their person.  Badges were stored in your laptop front pocket over the summer.  Juniors who have not received a new badge should check with Mrs. Rhinehart in Student Services.  Freshman who did not attend Freshman Orientation should also report to Student Services. (W) – Admin

 

Do you drive to school?  If so, you are reminded that all cars must have a parking tag displayed. Tags can be purchased in Student Services.  Also, there is NO PARKING in the band practice area of the parking lot located on the Oak Ridge Turnpike.  This area is clearly marked with yellow line closest to the Turnpike.  If you’re driving  DO YOU HAVE A PARKING TAG  –  You can pick application up in Student Services (W) – Admin

 

It’s breakfast time in Oak Ridge! It’ll also be breakfast time on Saturday. We’ve got your plans sorted!  Come to Highway 55 in Oak Ridge between 7am and 9am this Saturday morning for the Volleyball Pancake breakfast. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased from any volleyball player or at the door.  Flapjacks are delicious.  Come get some! (W,F 8.16) – D. Kolodney

Small Talk will meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, on Thursday, August 15. We will prioritize our list of topics for the year and discuss activities related to those topics. Everyone is invited to attend. We will met until 3:45. (W,Th 8.15) – R. Colquitt

 

Are you interested in learning how to code or improving your coding skills? Then come to Computer Science Club. We meet Wednesdays after school in Mr. Jackson’s room, LC227. All are welcome. (W) – K. Jackson

 

COUNSELING INFO

 

Seniors, are you stressing about the College Application Process? Not sure how to use Naviance? Should you apply via Common Application or directly to the college? How do you request an official transcript and when will they be available?How do you request a letter of recommendation? All of these questions and more will be answered during SENIOR SEMINARS. Senior Seminars will take place for students during English classes on Tuesday, August 27th. (W,F – Aug) – B. Ottinger

 

 

Attention all Sophomores and Juniors:  PSAT/NMSQT® Registration has started! The PSAT is a Practice SAT for 10th and 11th graders andthe National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for 11th graders only.  This is an optional test, but students are encouraged to participate. The 2019 PSAT/NMSQT test date will be Wednesday, October 16th and the test will be given at ORHS during the school day. The cost is $17. (MWF – 8.20)

Registration will be held at the following times:

Thursday, August 15th during lunch on the top level of Food Court closest to the staircase

Tuesday, August 20th during lunch on the top level of Food Court closest to the staircase

Seniors! Now that your senior photos are here it’s time to get real about making the most of these memories! Share your senior events, activities and fun times by using the hashtag #wildcats2020vision. Also besure to follow our twitter and Instagram accounts @wildcats2020vision to see what the class is up to.   Finally- you and your parents can submit pictures for the end of the year senior slide show to  wildcats2020vision@gmail.com. We want your old, cute, funny group pictures! Field trips, sleep overs, school plays and sports teams are examples of the memories you’ll want to share!
