STUDENT INFO

The meeting for those interested in going to Europe in June is tonight at 6:30 in the ORHS Amphitheater.  See the Colosseum of Rome, the Sistine Chapel and the Leaning Tower of Pisa!  Check out Monaco!  Walk along the French Riviera,and swim in the Mediterranean Sea!  See the Sagrada Familia and learn to cook paella in Spain!  AND earn 3 college credits at the same time!! ACT Prep—We begin our fall ACT Prep series with Science and Math practice tests on Wednesday, August 28, in the Amphitheatre, beginning at 2:00 PM sharp. If you take this practice test you’ll want to return on Wednesday,September 18, to analyze your results and learn how to answer the questions you missed. Please sign up by emailing Coach Etheridge (AEtheridge@ORTN.edu) by Monday, August 26, to reserve a seat in the Amphitheater. If you have any questions, please see Coach Etheridge in CS 336. Students can purchase an All-Sports Athletic Pass for $55.00. This pass will grant admission to all home games for ALL sports! The exception would be TSSAA hosted playoff games. Passes can be purchased at any time in the Main Office from Mrs. Seals. (Tu, Th)  – T. Seals

 

CLUB INFO

 

IRC will hold the first meeting of the year at 3:06 today in LC 326. Join us as we begin the year of World events, new members are always welcome. (Th) – B. Bauman

 

Mu Alpha Theta Math Club will meet Friday after school in Mrs. Mullins’ room, CS231, until 4 p.m.  New members are welcome to attend.  If you like problem solving and working through challenging math problems, this is the club for you! If you would like to explore the mathematics in art, this is the club for you!  If you would like to discuss fun math adventures while munching on provided refreshments this is the club for you!  See you Friday! The YuGi-Oh! Club will meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, after school on Fridays. This club is open to all students. Bring your cards and be ready to duel until 6 pm. (Th,F 8.16)  R. Colquitt

COUNSELING INFO

 

SENIOR females: The STAR Scholarship is now available to apply for and the application is in the Counseling Office with Mrs. Rowland.        Criteria: minimum un-weighted GPA of 3.0, exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for success, be a senior, citizen or legal resident of the US or Canda, plan to attendan accredited US or Canadian postsecondary school fall 2020. The scholarship is for $2,500 for one year only. See Mrs. Rowland as soon as possible for this fantastic and generous opportunity!   (Tu, Th –  8.14)  K. Rowland

 

 

SENIOR INFO

 

SENIORS: The deadline is THIS Friday, August 16th for the Saturday, September 14th ACT test.

You must go to  www.actstudent.org to create an account for the Saturday national test dates (if you’ve never taken the test on one of the national test dates). If you qualified for accommodations last year, please let Mrs. Rowland know BEFORE August 16th torequest those for you again.

As a reminder, taking the ACT is a graduation requirement in the state of Tennessee. If you did not take it last year and/or are a new transfer senior from out of state, you will need to take the ACT prior to graduation. If you need afee waiver, also see Mrs. Rowland for the waiver prior to August 16th. (Th) – KRowland
