Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Students: If you have requested a Sprint Hot Spot device AND have turned in your consent form, please meet in the amphitheater at the beginning of third period this Friday, September 8th to receive your device. If you have received a Mifi consent form and have not turned it in to Mrs. Harvey yet, please do so ASAP. If you still need a consent form they are in the main office.

Are you interested in planning Prom 2018?  Come to the Prom Board interest meeting on Thurs Sept 7 in LC 313 immediately after school to find out all about what we do, when we do it and how you can become part of all the fun. The ASVAB Test will be administered @ Oak Ridge High School on Thursday, September 21, 2017 @ 8:00 a.m. in the Amphitheater.  The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can help you take steps now toward finding a career that’s right for you. You can benefit from the Program whether you plan to pursue further education right after high school or enter the workforce right away. The program is designed to help you:  learn more about yourself and the world or work, explore occupations in line with your interests and skills, and develop an effective strategy to realize your career goals.  .  Students must sign up in Student Services by Friday, Sept. 15th. Senior parents, would you like to buy a salutation for your senior in this year’s Oak Log yearbook?  You can order online at www.balfour.com and design your own salutation or send one in to the high school to have it made for you.  Just pick up a form outside Mrs. Byrd’s room (CS328) or in the main office.  All salutations are due by October 23. Wildcat Credit Union will open on Thursday, September 7, during 5th Period in the Food Court.  All students are invited to open an account and begin enjoying all the benefits Wildcat Credit Union has to offer!  Wildcat Credit Union is a school branch of Y12 Federal Credit Union, “Run by and for students.” (9/6) – R. COUNSELING INFO

Are you a Junior or Senior that is interested in a unique scholarship opportunity? The United States Senate Youth Program offers an annual Washington Week event in March, which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship. An Admissions Representative from Emory University will be meeting with students in the Counseling Office on Tuesday, September 12th during 5A & 5B. Please plan to attend if you are interested in learning more about Emory University. (9/6, 9/8, 9/11) – A. Morris

Attention Seniors!  Are you interested in Berea College in Berea, Kentucky?  Berea is the only one of America’s top colleges that awards every enrolled student a no-tuition promise. If you are academically competitive and you have been active in your community, email your counselor by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7th to be considered for a nomination for the Berea Pinnacle Scholar Program. The Computer Science Club participates in the American Computer Science League’s contests. Anyone who wants to join the club may participate on the team. We also do programming puzzles that can strengthen your contest results or just your programming skills in general. The Computer Science Club is meeting in the Library Classroom every Friday at 7:00a.m. (9/6-9/7) – C. Ottinger

Future Business Leaders of America will meet on Thursday, September 7, at 3:15 in Mrs. Archer’s Room, CS 345.  All students with an interest in business are invited to attend. (9/6) – R. Archer
