Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Want to practice your language skills? Would you like to travel on a bullet train or have dinner on the Eiffel Tower? Would you like to learn how to cook paella or chocolate mousse? Are you interested in how swords or wine are made? Would you like to see a flamenco show or a sound and light show at one of the largest theme parks in Europe? Do all this and more during the two-week trip to Spain and France this summer. There will be a meeting August 31 at 6:30 in the ORHS Amphitheater for all students interested in traveling to Europe this summer AND for those students who are already enrolled on the trip. There are only 12 spots remaining for this trip. See Madame Bailey, Senor Gonzalez, Senora Ferguson, Mr. Pickering or Mr. Hickman if you have questions. (M, Tu, Th 8.31) L. Bailey

Any student interested on serving on the Superintendent’s Student Council may pick up an application in

Student Services and return it back in by Monday, September 11 by 3:30 pm.   –   This Council meets with the Superintendent monthly (as the schedule permits) on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the School Administration Building conference room from 3:15-4:15 p.m. (Tu,Th 9.11) – C. Wilson

Students – A food service code utility will run on Friday, September 1st to update free/reduced lunch applications. Any student who has not submitted a new application for the 2017 – 2018 school year will be marked paid, effective that day. Please make sure your application has been returned to the main office before Friday. (8/30-31) – C. Harvey

BUS INFO

Bus 1938 – Students who ride bus 1938 will now be riding bus 1957 for the remainder of the year – same route but with a new bus #.

Bus 1944 – For Tuesday and Thursday of this week, 8/29 & 8/31, students who ride Bus 1944 will be riding on a second route. Students who ride this bus will need to report to the top tier of the food court to wait on bus, which should arrive at approximately 3:40.   (Th, 8/31) – A. Roberts

CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO

Estudiantes de español: Spanish Club will meet today after school at 3:15 in Señora Golden’s room, CS 300. We will discuss the tentative calendar for the year, apply for leadership opportunities within the club, and sample pastries from a local panadería. We hope to see you there! (Th) – J. Golden

Philosophy Club will not meet this week, but we will return next Friday for a discussion on reality. (F) – A. Pickering

Do you like creative writing? Do you want to help invent and judge student and faculty writing contests? Join us for the first meeting of Branching Out on Thursday afternoon, August 31, at 3:15 in CS 336. Come ready to discuss ideas for activities this year. ATHLETICS THIS WEEK

The initial meeting for the 2017-2018 ORHS Swim Team will be this Thursday, August 31 at 6:00 p.m. in the upper level of the school’s food court. I would like to invite all interested swimmers and their parents to this meeting. We will be discussing the practice times, the swim team’s meet schedule, team expectations and need for parent volunteers. (8/30-31) – T. Seals
