Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Need some volunteer or community service hours? Office of Coordinated School Health is looking for race day volunteers for our 3rd Annual Oak Ridge Schools STOMP OUT Tobacco 5k coming up on Saturday, May 20th at Grove Center Race Course!  Volunteers are needed anytime from 6am – 11am at your availability and all volunteers will receive a free race t-shirt!  Remember, all Oak Ridge Schools students and employees can register for FREE online before race day!  If you are interested in participating or volunteering, please contact me at jllaurendine@ortn.edu.  (5/10, 5/15, 5/17, 5/19) – J. A small wad of money was found by an honest ORHS student at the top of the stairs near Mr. Senter’s room, LC330. The student turned the cash over to Mr. Senter, and if it is yours, identify the total amount and the types of bills in the wad of cash. Otherwise, Mr. Senter will give the money back to the finder by Monday, May 22nd. (5/18-5/19) – K. Senter

Convocation Ushers-there will be a MANDATORY meeting with Madame Barry immediately after school next Thursday, May 25th in the Auditorium to discuss and assign Convocation Usher roles for the senior practice on Friday, May 26th and the actual ceremony on Wednesday, May 31st. 2017 ORHS Track and Field Athletes: If you have not yet returned your uniforms and sweats, please turn them in to Ms. Amos in Bookkeeping. If you’re a senior, please do so ASAP in order to clear all ORHS obligations before graduation. (5/19, 5/23) – A. Etheridge

 

SENIOR INFO

Seniors who choose to participate in the commencement exercises must wear the traditional cap and gown. The gown is to be worn over the appropriate apparel such as dresses, dress pants (long pants, not shorts), and dress shirt/tie or collared shirt. Dress shoes are also required. If you do not have the appropriate attire for graduation, please see Ms. Estep prior to May 26th (seniors last day) for assistance. If a student is not dressed in appropriate attire, he or she will not participate in the commencement exercises. In addition, students will not be allowed to participate in graduation if they have decorated their mortar boards. (5/19-5/26) – B. Estep

Seniors and Friends are invited to attend a FREE movie night on the soccer field on the 25th at 9 pm. We will be showing “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. Come enjoy a great movie and fun with friends. It should be POPPIN’! (5/19) – B. Hondorf

CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO

Join Philosophy Club after school today in Mr. Pickering’s room (LC322). We’ll have a special guest alumna from the University of Virginia and discuss some of her work in gender studies. (5/19) – A. Pickering
