STUDENT INFO

The Rotary Club of Oak Ridge, the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge Breakfast, and the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge Sunset are sponsoring a Four-Way Test Speech Contest for High School Students living in and/or attending high school in Oak Ridge. The guide contains helpful information for parents and students regarding graduation requirements, high school course selection, preparation for post-secondary opportunities, and the registration process. Teachers and students are now having conversations about teacher recommendations for next year. Rising Juniors and Seniors will meet with counselors to register during the week of February 20th, and rising Sophomores will meet with counselors to register during the week of February 27th. The ASAP Ambassadors are participating this year in “It’s Quittin’ Time in Tennessee,” a statewide effort to prevent and reduce tobacco use. If you use tobacco products and want to quit you can call the Tennessee Tobacco Quit Line at 1-800-QUIT NOW or see Nurse Gupton for a free quit kit. There are several answers to yesterday’s Black History Trivia Question. Bill Russell and Lenny Wilkens are two NBA players who played and coached the same team during the same season. Earl Lloyd was also an NBA player and coach du ring the same season for the same team. Today’s question is: Who was the first African American ORHS graduate to play in the NFL? Write your answer, along with your name, on a piece of paper and bring it to Dr. Colquitt in CS 235 by the end of 5th period today. (2/15) – R. Colquitt

The Driving Center is offering Driver Education Training during Spring Intersession. We will run two classes, which meet all requirements for insurance reductions. The first session will meet March 13th-16th with the second starting March 20th-23rd. Please visit our website www.thedrivingcenter.org for information or answers to some common questions. CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO

The next ORHS sponsored ski/snowboard trip is in two weeks. On February 25th we will travel to Sugar Mountain in North Carolina. You can rent equipment there or bring your own. We must have 24 students sign up in order to confirm our charter bus so turn in your form and money as soon as possible. See Ms. Sobek or Ms. Whitaker for forms. (2/14-15) – D. Sobek
