Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Intersession Forms are available in student services and the school counseling office. If you have a failing grade in a class, you have the opportunity to improve you grade during intersession, Sept. 30th through October 3. We are also offering an ACT prep course just in time for the upcoming October ACT tests. Forms must be submitted no later than noon on Friday, September 27th.  (9/19-9/27) – B. Estep

 

If you need bus transportation for intersession, you must submit a separate form requesting transportation no later than Tuesday, September 24th. Forms are available in student services. (9/19-9/24) – B. Estep

 

ACT Prep: Monday is the deadline to sign up to take the English and Ready Practice Tests this next Wednesday, September 25, from 2:00 PM-3:30 PM, in the Amphitheatre. In order to reserve a seat, please email Coach Etheridge (aetheridge@ortn.edu) a well-written and appropriate email indicating that you’d like to take the test. On Wednesday, you’ll need to arrive by 1:55 and will need two #2 pencils. The two tests should take a total of 1.5 hours or so, and we will follow up with analysis of your results on Wednesday, October 16. (9/19-9/20) – A. Etheridge

 

Jostens will return to the Main Lobby and Arena Concessions’ Kiosk on Thursday, October 17, during lunch to collect orders for class rings. Any student at ORHS may order a class ring. $60 deposit is required. Extra packets are available in CS347. (9/20, 9/23, 9/25, 10/15) – T. Ledden

Bonjour! French Club will meet Monday, September 23rd at 3:15 in Madame Barry’s room CS  3 07 to start watching a French movie! Merci! (F) – E. Barry

 

Do you want to win breakfast for your class? Do you enjoy food? Well if so this contest is for you. Student Council is hosting a pep video contest. This contest is a way for you and your class to show off some school spirit and win some food. The contest is open to all class periods. Videos should range from 30 seconds to a minute and must be submitted in MP4 format. Take advantage of this opportunity to boost homecoming spirit as we take on the Clinton Dragons on September 27th. (9/17-9/20) – A. Wagner

COUNSELING INFO

 

Saturday, September 21st, Roane State will be hosting an HBCU Expo from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Students from 7th-12th grades can attend along with parents/guardians.  Sessions will include on-the-spot scholarships, ACT and SAT Prep Strategies, Financial Aid and Independence, and Staying safe on college campuses. Step and Stroll performances and job/military recruiters are also part of the day. NC STATE UNIVERSITY – is offering the Park Scholarship.  This opportunity is based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service and character.  It is a four year scholarship valued at up to $205,000 out-of-state, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses.  If you would like to be considered for a nomination by ORHS please submit a personal statement and resume to Ms. Redman in the School Counseling office by Friday, September 27. A representative from Rochester Institute of Technology will be conducting Hometown Interviews for any interested students on Monday, September 23rd at Panera Bread on N. SENIOR INFO

 

Seniors: you do not order senior signature shirts from Jostens. You will receive a separate order form after Fall Break for the senior signature shirts. (F, M, Th 9.19) – T. Ledden

 

Seniors: Jostens will return to the Main Lobby and Arena Concessions’ Kiosk on Thursday, October 17, during lunch to collect orders for graduation supplies.
