STUDENT INFO

 

 

International Friends Club will be hosting the 3rd annual Dresses for Africa project on Tuesday, April 2nd from 3:15 – 5:00 in the library Makerspace.  ORHS students will partner with volunteers from the Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma to sew school dresses for girls in rural African communities.  You do not have to be an International Friends Club member to participate, but you will need to bring a signed permission slip to attend.  Please see Mrs. Golden in CS 300 to pick up a permission form, or email JHGolden@ortn.edu for a copy.  J. 1st UMC will not be serving lunch this Thursday, March 28. Lunches will resume next week on April 4th.  C. Kelly

Any junior who is interested in Work-Based Learning next year in the areas of Business, Information Technology, STEM, or Welding and could not attend the mandatory meeting before Spring Break should see Mrs. Ledden in CS347 or email her at tledden@ortn.edu to schedule a make-up meeting.  T. Tickets for Diamond of the Season, Prom 2024, will be on Pre-order April 3rd-5th and 9th-12th for $30 for a single and $60 for a couple in the Arena Kiosk during 3rd period lunch. The line will close 5 minutes before the end of the period.

**Are you planning on bringing a date to Prom who is not a current ORHS student?  Please be sure to pick up a Guest Application form from Ms. Eidam Dyer in LC 313, Student Services or during ticket sales in the Kiosk.  All Guest Applications are due by April 24th, 2024.  S. Dyer

 

AP European History review sessions start TODAY, Wednesday during 3rd period in Mr. Pickering’s classroom, LC322. Lunch will be provided. Fall semester students that are taking the AP exam should attend.  A. Pickering

Calling all Powderpuff participants! Sign-ups for this exciting game will be open and available after the informational meeting on Tuesday, April 2nd, in Ms. Wagner’s room, LC311 during 3A and 3B. Spots go fast to the first 20 people for each grade, so make sure you grab your paper from Mrs.Wagner’s door and turn it back in by April 12th.  A. Wagner

Due to an expansion of ministry services at the Highland View church across the street from the Arena parking lot, the west parking lot by Providence House will no longer be available for student parking.  The east lot between Highland View and First Baptist will remain an option for students.  We are appreciative of Highland View’s willingness to provide this additional parking.  Please abide by this request.  S. Student Council will hold a leadership breakfast on Friday, April 5th. If you are interested in running for a class officer position or Student Council officer position or if you would like to join the Student Council Leadership class next year, please join us for this information session. The meeting will begin at 7:15 in Mrs. Wagner’s room, LC311, and breakfast will be served. Don’t miss this great opportunity to be the change you want to see in your school!  A. Wagner

Whether you love displaying your art, making art, or exploring other artists’ works, Art in the Park is the event for you! This event is sponsored by the Youth Advisory Board and will take place on March 30th at the Oak Ridge Civic center from 10am-2pm. There will be student and professional art displays, demonstrations, food, live music, and various activities for all ages. There will also be an art competition in which students can take part and win prizes! For more information, on the competition and event, go to Mrs. Schrock’s room , Mrs. Eades room , or Ms. Theele’s room  and scan the QR code on any Art in the Park flyer.

Student Council and Class Officer elections are fast approaching! Any current freshmen, sophomore, or junior in good standing is eligible to run for a position. Go to the Wildcat Canvas Hangout Page to find more information and to access the applications to get on the ballot. Seniors: The time has come to select speakers for the ORHS Class of 2024 Graduation and Convocation ceremonies.  Tryouts will be virtual this year. For specific information about how to audition, please visit the Class of 2024 Canvas page and find the announcement regarding tryouts. The deadline to upload a submission is April 5 at 3:00 p.m.  G. COUNSELING INFO

 

 

The P.E.O. Chapter R Scholarship – Women Advancing Women Scholarship  is now accepting applications.  This is a scholarship for female high school seniors accepted into an accredited four-year college or university within the United States showing evidence of leadership, community, and school involvement.  Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office.  The deadline to apply is March 29th.  A.
