Nominations for the Homecoming Court will be held TODAY, Wednesday, September 27th on Skyward. Seniors will be able to nominate one boy and one girl from 8am-2pm. The winners will be announced at 3pm that same day. Homecoming Week is October 17th-20th following Fall break.  A. Wagner

CLUB INFO

 

Interested in learning to play chess? Already know how to play chess? Stop by Mr. Sartorius’s room (LC 225) on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15 and be a part of the Chess Club. Eat snacks, socialize, and play some chess. All skill levels welcome. All students are welcome.  C. Sartorius

 

Diversity Club meetings have changed to Wednesdays at lunch – come to the library classroom for lunch (pizza provided) TODAY, Wednesday, September 27 during your lunch period. Pick up a permission slip from the library before Wednesday – you must have it signed to come.  C. Milloway

 

SENIOR INFO

 

Seniors: you will receive your graduation supplies order packet from Jostens on Wednesday, October 18. The first order date will be Wednesday, October 25. T. Ledden

 

Senior Steering will be hosting the inaugural Senior Homecoming Cookout on Tuesday October 17th  after the ACT on the soccer field. We will have hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie burgers along with chips and desserts.  B. Sparks

COUNSELING INFO

 

Seniors check out this opportunity for a Scholarship Essay Contest.  The Zeta Gamma Gamma Chapter of Oak Ridge will award $150 to the essay winner. The essay (700-750 words) must answer the prompt:  “With Politics gaining the bulk of discussion, what can the younger generation do to ensure that elected leaders understand the impact of gaining their vote?”   The winning essay will then be sent to compete among other essays submitted on an international level for the chance to win between $5,000 and $1,000 for first, second, third and fourth places.   If you are interested in entering, see Ms. O’Rourke in the Counseling office for details.  Deadline for submission is October 20th. It’s a fabulous week for College Rep visits here at ORHS!  TODAY, Wednesday will feature the University of South Carolina in the lobby during lunch AND we will have the University of Chicago in the Counseling Office immediately after school!  Stay tuned (or check out the big calendar outside the Counseling Office ) for more visit announcements!  A. Student Athletic Passes are still on sale in the Main Office.  $55 will get you in to every regular season home football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and track event for the rest of the year!  Get your SAP before the next home football game, October 13 when the Wildcats host the Bearden Bulldogs.  T.
