STUDENT INFO

 

Students who have been assigned to Operation Restoration but complete the assignment MUST come to OR to show evidence of submission before being released to leave campus.  However,  students completing their assignment and are ready to submit may see Mrs. Thompson in the Main Lobby DURING LUNCH to show their work for submission and be released from OR rather than coming at 3:15.      Students who FAIL to show their submission to an OR Coach or Mrs. Thompson will be counted as skipping OR and receive skipping consequences. Applications are now being accepted for the 21-22 ASAP Youth Ambassador Coalition cohort.  An ideal Ambassador candidate is someone who wants to make a difference in their community by preventing and reducing substance misuse, gain leadership skills and experience, receive community service hours, and have fun!  Apply online at ASAPofAnderson.org by September 3rd.  (8/9, 8/20, 8/23, 9/2) – A. CLUB INFO

 

The YuGi-Oh! Club will meet after school in Dr. Colquitt’s room on Fridays. Bring your cards or come prepared to build a deck from the cards we provide. We’ll be in CS 235 until 5 pm. (Tu, Th, F) – R. Colquitt

 

The Wildcats for Change club has been working on improving the culture and climate at ORHS over the last two years. Join us next Wednesday August 25 at 11:45-12:30 in the amphitheater.   If you attend:  Study hall 3a- grab lunch and bring it to the amphitheater

Study hall 3b- grab your lunch at the end of 2nd and come to the amphitheater.

Are you interested in going on a quest into your imagination?  Are you interested in becoming a Dungeon Master and being a part of an incredible campaign?  Dungeons and Dragons Club will have an interest meeting this Friday from 3:15 to 4:00 in CS329.  We will talk about our club and create characters for those new to DnD! Comic Book & Anime Club  –  Sailor Moon? Black Panther? My Hero Academia? Wonder Woman? If you know and love these characters, then the Comic Book and Anime Club is for you!  We will be participating in Comic and Anime book clubs, viewing Marvel, DC and Anime films and learning about cosplay costume design this year.  We will have an interest meeting next Monday (August 23rd) from 3:15 to 4:00 in CS329 to talk about all of the possibilities!  Excelsior!  If you have questions, talk to Ms. Denisar for more information. Bonjour! The French Club-Le Cercle Français-is starting up again! Our first meeting will be next Tuesday 8/17 from 3:15-4 in LC304. We’ll get to know each other and work on other club details. IRC is an awesome club!  Do you like debating, geography, or politics? Join International Relations Club in room LC 326 every Thursday right after school and solve real world issues with our model UN.  We meet weekly from 3:10 until around 4.  Snacks are provided.  Join us for fun and experience  with debating and analyzing world conflicts.  (8/12,819,8/26) – B. Hallo!  The German Club will be meeting for the first informational meeting this year on Tuesday the 17th right after school at 3:15 pm in Ms Nebenfuehr’s room CS 301.

Everybody is welcome! Especially students who had German in the past and do not have a German class at the moment.  Don’t wait a semester before you continue with German. Come to German Club and spend time with friends doing German stuff like eating cake, chilling and talking!  And if you want, we can have a Duolingo competition too! (Th, M, Tu 8.17) – S. COUNSELING INFORMATION

 

We will have a representative from Mississippi State University visiting our school on Wednesday, August 18th during lunch.  They will be in the Main Lobby to share information and answer questions regarding their school.  Stop by and learn what opportunities they have to offer! ORHS is happy to announce we will be able to host college representative visits both virtually and in person this year!!  We will announce visits in the Daily Bulletin and in the iNews.  We have our first in-person visit scheduled for Tuesday, August 31st at 3:15pm in the Counseling Office. A representative from Savannah College of Art and Design will be here to answer your questions about their school.  No sign up is necessary for in-person visits.  (8/6-8/31 MWF) – A. Campbell

The Annual Military Service Academy Day will be 10am, Saturday, August 28th at UTC University Center.  The event is intended to provide information about Military Academies to students who may have a desire to become a Military Officer, and to familiarize those students with the qualifications necessary for acceptance.  The Academy Day event will give students a chance to interact with representatives from all of the Military Academies and ROTC Leadership.  For further information, Cindy Boshears by phone: 865-576-1976 or by email: cindy.boshears@mail.house.gov  (T,Th – 8/28) – A. Senior Information

 

Senior Seminars will be on Tuesday, August 24th with the seniors during the school day.  The counseling office will have a virtual meeting on Teams, Tuesday, August 31st, for parents to go over senior information.   (Tu, Th – 8.24) –A. Campbell

 

Seniors, are you interested in the University of Virginia?  The Jefferson Scholarship provides the entire cost of attendance, and many supplemental enrichment experiences, at the University of Virginia.  If you are interested to be ORHS’s nominee for this scholarship submit a resume and a personal statement as to why you should be chosen to Ms. Taylor by Friday, October 29th. ATHLETIC INFORMATION

 

Listed below are all of the things going on this week.  Don’t forget that you can get your Student Athletic Pass for only $55 in the Main Office.  This will save you over $100 and get you in to all regular season – homeathletic events.  Get yours today.

 

This Saturday, the Lady Soccer Cats will take on the Lady Spartans from Webb.  Start time is @ 11:00 a.m.  (change from previously announced time of 6:00 p.m.)
