Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

 

 

CLUB INFO

 

Oak Ridge High School students should not be on other schools’ property during school hours.  Students who wish to use public facilities such as the basketball court at other schools should wait until school activities have ended for the day, including after school practices for those schools’ athletes.  Students failing to meet this expectation will face disciplinary action at the high school. The YuGi–Oh! Club will meet on Friday, September 25, after school until 5 pm. Bring your cards to Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, and be ready to duel! (9/24 &/25) – R. Colquitt

 

Do you want to learn about travel and tourism, understand marketing tactics used in sports and entertainment, implement a community awareness project, gain financial literary, or get advice on resumes and interviews? Then come join FBLA/DECA where you will get the chance to hone and develops skills from communication to time and stress management.  Attend conferences and compete individually or as a team in competitions such as cybersecurity, international business ethics and law, video production, broadcast journalism, math, coding and programming, public speaking and so much more! Joining gives you access to thousands of scholarships, resources to help prepare you for college, and find jobs and internships. Next Friday, 10/2/2020, the Wildcats will travel to Karns High School.  Tickets for this game will be on sale at ORHS starting 9/23 through 9/25 following this schedule:

COUNSELING INFORMATION

 

Students and parents have an opportunity to join a UTC Admissions Counselor for a virtual presentation on October 13, 6:45pm-7:30pm. Parents and students will learn what UTC has to offer, and to also be able to ask the Admissions Counselor questions.  Go to the UTC admissions page to register for this event.

 

It is Tennessee College Application Week and the University of Alabama – Huntsville is participating!  You can apply to UAH for free this week using the Fee Waiver Code: TNAPP21.  Go to the UAH website for their online application and apply for free Sept. 20-26.

 

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce its annual International High School Essay Contest.  Four college scholarships will be awarded: 1st Scholarship: $5,000; 2nd Scholarship: $3,000; 3rd Scholarship: $2,000; 4th Scholarship: $1,000 Contest Closes: October 16, 2020.  For the submission form stop by the Counseling Office or find it on the Scholarship Page on the Counseling Office website.  And be sure to check the Counseling Office website regularly for updates on virtual college visits and tons of scholarship opportunities.  (A. SENIOR SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST:  Please submit your designs for the Class of 2021 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Friday, September 25. (9/21, 9/22, 9/24, 9/25) – T. Ledden

 

SENIORS: this is a reminder that if you picked up your ACT voucher for one of the October test dates (17th or 24th), the deadline to register for either of those dates is this week, Friday, September 25th. If you are using it for the December 12th test date, the deadline is Friday, November 6th.  See Mrs. Campbell in the Counseling office to get your voucher for your second free test. (9/23-9/24) – K.
