STUDENT GENERAL INFO

 

Do you have a passion for community service? Do you like helping others and having fun along with your friends? Then you should join the ORHS Interact Club.  The CARDINAL team will meet Monday, August 17 right after school in the amphitheater. We would love to have you join us!  (8.13  & 8.17)

 

Do you drive to school?  All cars parked on campus will need the new PURPLE 2020-21 car tag.  Pick up your free form in Student Services. A reminder –  there is NO PARKING in the WildBand practice area of the parking lot located on the Oak Ridge Turnpike.  This area is clearly marked with yellow lines closest to the Turnpike. Ms. Sobek is searching for 20 motivated leaders to serve on the Class of 2021’s Senior Steering Committee.  This group works with the class officers to plan and organize events held throughout the year.  If you are interested in applying for a position on this committee see Ms. Sobek in LC217 or find an application poster hanging up around school with a QR code to the google form.  Applications are due Friday, August 14th and interviews will be conducted next week. STUDENT COMPUTER & DEVICE INFO

 

Students needing tech support can enter their own ticket!  In a browser window, type support.ortn.edu to enter the issue.  Please enter only ONE ticket for the problem as they are addressed in the order received.  Duplicate tickets delay the process for other individuals.  If you have a stylus needing a battery, please contact your math teacher.  They will take care of you!

 

Do you need a mifi device?  Submit a ticket to support.ortn.edu You may also email Mrs. Harvey at caharvey@ortn.edu so she can complete paperwork for the device.

 

SENIOR INFO

 

Seniors:  Your opportunity to apply for membership in the ORHS chapter of the National Honor Society will run from Monday, August 17th through Friday, September 4th. Please note this is the only application season for your class due to the quarantine last spring. Applicants must maintain a 3.6 GPA, be able to give evidence of participation in service activities and leadership, and possess character and behavior generating a good reputation. The application form will be available from Ms. Milloway in the Media Center starting Monday, and you must return the form with your signature, the signature of a parent or guardian, and signatures from other adults who can verify your service and leadership roles. Forms are due back in the Media Center by Friday, September 4th. No late forms will be accepted. (8.12 – 8.17) K. Senter

 

COUNSELING INFO

 

The STAR Scholarship is a $2500 one-time scholarship awarded to a high school senior girl that exhibits excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success; has a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; and is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the US.  The deadline to submit the application is Saturday, August 22nd.  Come to the Counseling Office for the application.
