Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

On Tuesday February 4, ORHS Student Council & Counseling Office is sponsoring Purple Night for the OR vs Karns game in order to raise awareness of teen domestic violence.  We are asking our students to wear purple as we highlight the importance of recognizing the signs of violence.  We would also like to invite your students to join us in this endeavor.  The YWCA will also be in the arena to share resources. Students that are registered to take the AMC 10B and the AMC 12B should report directly to LC-327 by 7:45, Wednesday morning, February 5, 2020.  You will need #2 pencils. Calculators are not allowed, but protractors, compasses, & straight edges may be used, if you would like.  Attendance will be taken. (2/3-2/4) – J. Zimprich

ACT Prep: If you took the practice ACT Math Test on Saturday at the Scarboro Center, you may pick up your scored answer sheets in Coach Etheridge’s room before school or during lunch. (2/4) – A. Etheridge

NHS Tutoring: On Tuesday, February 4, NHS offers high quality academic tutoring hosted by the Counseling Center from 3:15-3:50.  Tutors this time include Patricia Anguiano, Susan Dale, and Katie Swigert. (2/4) – A. Etheridge

 

COUNSELING INFO

 

Registration for the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine’s 2020 Veterinary Summer Experience Program is open. This program has been designed to provide valuable educational experiences and acquaint students with all facets of the Veterinary Medicine profession.  Students will shadow in local veterinary practices for five weeks and then spend one week in Knoxville as guests of the veterinary college.  While there, students will be involved in various educational programs including lectures, laboratories, and clinical rotations.  Applications must be electronically submitted by 11:59pm on March 1, 2020.  Supplemental materials must be postmarked by March 7, 2020.  Go to the Counseling Office’s Scholarship, Testing and Career website for details and links to the program. Crossroads Christian Church is offering the Jimm A Snoddy Memorial Scholarship to graduating high school seniors who are performing well academically, who demonstrate character in their life, and who will be enrolling in a post-secondary education institution (university, community college, or other two year training program) with plans to complete a degree or training program in the career fields of music, math/sciences or health sciences.  This is a one-time scholarship provided to assist candidates with the purchase of books and/or other academic materials in their programs.  Application packet can be picked up in the Counseling Office and must be submitted no later than March 13, 2020.  (T,Th 1/30-2/5) – A.
