Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

The Rotary Club of Oak Ridge invites students to attent the Youth Leadership Conference at Roane State Community Collage on May 8th from 2 – 6 pm.  Students will have the opportunity to engage withleaders on topics such as volunteerism, advocacy, grit, determination and entrepreneurship.   There is NO cost for the event, and a meal will be served during the event.  Registration and permission slips can be completed in the Counseling Office and returnedto Alison King.  (W) – A. The City of Knoxville’s Summer in the City Intern Program is a paid 6 week summer internship for applicants who are between the ages of 17 and 22 years of age. This program places interns in  various administrative and support tasks for the City departments.  The salary is $8.75 per hr.  Interested applicants must apply online at www.knoxvilletn.gov and attach a resume and a letter of recommendation. In National Honor Society news, the next meeting is on Monday, May 20th after school in LC327. All officers from the 2017-2018 school year should attend, but NHS members from this year are done and need not come on the 20th. All new inductees for the 2018-2019 are required to attend. We will elect next year’s officers at this meeting. Also, 2017-2018 NHS members will receive their blue NHS cord to wear at graduation when you attend Honors Night on Tuesday, May 21st.Thanks for a great year! (W) – K. Senter

SERVICE HOURS & TN PROMISE VOLUNTEER HOURS AVAILABLE

 

Seniors still needing TN Promise community service hours before July 1st: Linden’s Lions Pride Team will be hosting School Clean Up Days this coming Saturday, May 11th and again on Saturday, May 25th from7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. They will also host this on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of June (8th and 22nd)

No need to sign up, simply SHOW UP! Water and hand sanitizer provided but bring a rake, shovel and/or broom and complete your hours for TN Promise and help Linden Elementary look GREAT in the process!

Does your senior need TN promise volunteer hours?  Woodland needs spring fling volunteers – Can you beleive weather moved this event again? The new date is may17th.  Here is a fun opportunity to get your hours. You can earn up to 4 hours by helping to set up activities, play games with our students, and take down activities during our Spring Fling.  All interested students should contact Ms. Stacy Donald at sdonald@ortn.edu no later than Tuesday, May 7.  (Tu, Th 5.7) S. TN Promise students can earn 4.0 hours of service at the Department of Public Works Open House.  You would be helping set up for the event and then working various booths during the Open House.  You will need to report to Tasha Pitsenbarger at the Central Services Complex (100 Woodbury Ave.) on Thursday, May 23 at 4:00pm and should be out of there by 8:00pm.  Please call Tasha at 425-1875 if you have any questions.
