The City of Knoxville’s Summer in the City Intern Program is a paid 6 week summer internship for applicants who are between the ages of 17 and 22 years of age. This program places interns in  various administrative and support tasks for the City departments.  The salary is $8.75 per hr.  Interested applicants must apply online at www.knoxvilletn.gov and attach a resume and a letter of recommendation. Does your senior need TN promise volunteer hours?  Woodland needs spring fling volunteers – Can you beleive weather moved this event again? The new date is may17th.  Here is a fun opportunity to get your hours. You can earn up to 4 hours by helping to set up activities, play games with our students, and take down activities during our Spring Fling.  All interested students should contact Ms. Stacy Donald at sdonald@ortn.edu no later than Tuesday, May 7.  (Tu, Th 5.7) S. TN Promise students can earn 4.0 hours of service at the Department of Public Works Open House.  You would be helping set up for the event and then working various booths during the Open House.  You will need to report to Tasha Pitsenbarger at the Central Services Complex (100 Woodbury Ave.) on Thursday, May 23 at 4:00pm and should be out of there by 8:00pm.  Please call Tasha at 425-1875 if you have any questions. CLUB INFO

 

The Youth Advisory Board is accepting applications for the next year.  The term of office begins on August 1st, 2019.  Participation on the City of Oak Ridge YAB requires attendance at bi-monthly meetings on Wednesday afternoons and also at special events throughout the year.  All interested students are encouraged to pick up an application in the Guidance Offices at JMS and RMS, the Student Affairs Office at ORHS, or at the Front Desk of the Civic Center.  Application requirements include being an Oak Ridge resident and a student that is entering 8th-12th grade.  Applications will be due by May 17, 2019 to the locations listed above.  For any further questions, please contact Matt Reedy at 425-3450. SENIOR INFO

 

Attention Seniors! There is a paid summer internship at UT.  This runs from 8am-1pm for 4 weeks in June.  There you will learn about STEM teaching and get a chance to teach and learn under guidance of UT faculty members.  This is open to all graduating seniors who plan to enroll in a Community College next fall.  For more information, please contact Dr. Lynn Hodge at thodge4@utk.edu. COUNSELING INFO

 

The deadline to register for the June 8th ACT is this Friday!! Go to  www.actstudent.org to register.

If this will be the first time for you to register online for a Saturday test and you took the state ACT test in April, please use your ACT ID from that score report to help match your state scores to your scores on national testing dateson Saturdays. If you qualify for a fee waiver, ACT will also provide two additional fee waivers for the test so please see Mrs. Rowland BEFORE the end of school this Friday for a waiver if applicable. (F) – K. Information regarding a new TFC Scholarship opportunity for $1000 is available in the Counseling Office.

The Tennessee Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon will award $6,500 in scholarships to the incoming 2019/2020 male freshman class.  Students attending the University of Tennessee-Knoxville this fall can apply.  The application takes approximately 15 minutes and applicants are under no obligation to join a fraternity.  Please go do www.tnalpha.com to complete your application.  The deadline is June 14, 2019.
