Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Did you know that your teachers actually leave the building to do things?  And those things can even be fun!  Sometimes those fun things are reading – yes, reading for fun!  Stop by the library to see some of your teachers’ favorite books on display now.  You can check them out and join in the reading for fun craze that’s sweeping the nation. If April showers bring May flowers, what do February showers bring? Find the answer to this and other intriguing questions with free NHS tutoring from Steven Qu and Nathan Kidder from 3:15 to 3:50 on Tuesday in Counseling Center. (Tu) – K. Senter

 

Students who plan to take an AP Exam this spring must register via a Google Form found on the ORHS website.  The registration window will be open, Monday, February 25th through Wednesday, February 27th.  Students must either pay a deposit of $15 per exam or pay for all exams in full Friday, March 1st.  Only exams with a deposit or payment if full as of March 1st  will be ordered.  If students choose to pay by deposit, the balance will be due April 26th.  Students may drop off their payment in the main office before school, after school, or at lunch February 27-March 1st. Students may contact their AP teachers for additional information including the AP Exam Schedule. (M,W,F 2.22) – A. Roberts

 

Are you interested in doing research as a high school student? Want to improve your reading, writing and critical thinking skills? Hope to strengthen your transcript for college applications? The Driving Center will be hosting two Driver Education Classes over Spring Intercession.  The first is March 11th and the second is March 18th.  Please check their website at thedrivingcenter.org for information and registration (Tu, Th – 3.7) – T. Seals

 

If you are interested in attending this year’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering program at Y-12, stop by student services to pick up a permission form. The trip is Thursday, February 21, from 8:30 to 12:00. Return your permission form are due TOMORROW to student services. Space is limited and you must be in good standing to attend. (M – 2.18) – B. Any student who has registered for The Business Academy Co-op and/or Virtual Enterprise class for 2019-2020 must attend a mandatory meeting in order to participate in either or both programs. Students should choose either the Tuesday, March 5, or Thursday, March 7, meeting to attend. The meeting will begin at 3:15 and will last until 4:00 p.m. and will be held in CS347. CLUB INFO

 

Bonjour! French Club will meet today immediately after school in Madame Barry’s room CS 307 until 3:45. Merci! (M) – E. Barry

 

The FBLA Club will be raising money for The March of Dimes during the week of February 18th -22nd. The March Of Dimes began in 1938 to help all moms and babies have the best care and health possible. The homeroom that donates the most money will win a Chick-Fil-A breakfast for the entire class. Please donate to this amazing cause. (M) – C. Stalliard

Current Juniors/Seniors interested in a career in pharmacy…ETSU has a summer camp for you June 3rd-June 7,2019. The cost is $75 for this 5-day program which includes supplies, lunch, transportation to and from practice sites, and a t-shirt. The Anderson County Democratic Women’s Scholarship is offering a $500 award to a female student. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, please attach a paragraph statement to your local scholarship form that states why you think you would be a good candidate for this scholarship. Attention 10th grade students planning to enroll in Middle College: There is a Steven L. Coffey Memorial Middle College Scholarship for Anderson County students. House Method’s is opening of the second annual House Method scholarship, which awards $1,000 toward the education of a student committed to bettering our lives in our homes. The deadline is October 15, 2019.
