Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Registration officially begins next week.  In order to register on time, students must have their registration forms signed by their guardians by their registration day.  Freshmen should return their forms to their science teachers, sophomores should return their forms to their English teachers, and juniors should return their forms to their US History teachers.  Registration dates are as follow:  Juniors February 4-5 ; Sophomores February 6-8; Freshmen February 11-13.  If you lost your registration form, please stop by the counseling office. If you attended Mr. Froning’s “Geometry – Shapes and Figures” ACT prep class, make sure you check your email for the key to his packet to help with your last minute cramming for this Saturday’s ACT.  Good luck on Saturday! (F) – T. Froning

 

There are only two days left to get tickets for Winter Formal. Tickets are $15 each and will be sold at the top of the cafeteria and the arena kiosk during lunch. You can also donate to your favorite Snow Prince or Princess at this time. All proceeds go towards Second Harvest. There are a limited number of tickets, and tickets will NOT be sold at the door. There is still time if you are interested in travelling to Africa and Spain this summer. It will be the trip of a life time. Fly into Europe travel across Spain by bus and then take a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco. Watch the sun go down as you ride a camel. How would you like to be a part of a citywide plan for the future of Oak Ridge.  You can be a part of this process.  Blueprint will be meeting here at ORHS on Tuesday, February 5, from 3:30 – 5:30 in the Food Court area.

“Blueprint” is a citywide plan for the future of Oak Ridge. The formation of the plan is led by the Municipal Planning Commission, with input and involvement from the entire community, including residents, businesses, and property owners. Generally, a citywide plan prepares for future population change or growth and its anticipated impacts to the community, in order to ensure that the City can achieve desired goals for the built environment, community services, economic health, and quality of living. The devotional for Fellowship of Christian Athletes this Friday will be presented by Robin Johnson of Oak Valley Baptist Church.  Come to Providence House across the street from Wildcat Arena at 7 AM on Friday for Chick-fil-A biscuits and a great Christian message to start your weekend.  All are welcome. The FBLA Club will meet on February 5th at 7:15 a.m. to take their club pictures for the yearbook. (Th) C. Staliard

 

Big things are happening in politics right now, and we know YOU have opinions about them.  So, come share them with Wildcats 4 change as they write letters to their state and federal representatives. They will have tables set up in the front and the arena lobby Friday the 1st with paper, envelopes, addresses and everything you will need to write your OWN letter. Come to express your opinion on any topic, no matter what your stance. (F) – S. Thomas

 

The next meeting of the National Honor Society will be in LC327 after school from 3:15 to 4:00 on Monday, February 4. We will schedule tutoring for the rest of the school year and discuss other volunteer opportunities. (1/28-1/31) – K. Senter

Deadline for tennis players to submit their physicals to Terra Davenport & complete the online athletic compliance forms is February 4th.  (1/17-2/4 T, Th) – D. Bowman

 

There’s LOTS going on Friday night.  It’s $5 Tee Higgins night as we honor our national champion alum – students get in for just $5 with ID.  But wait, Juniors, it’s your special night because you get in for free with your ID.  It’s also Lady Wildcat Free Pizza night.  The pizza will be given out in the student section at the beginning of the girls game so come out and support your Lady Wildcats as they play for the district title.  Pizza at 5:50, tip time at 6.
