The Knoxville Challenger is a professional tennis tournament with $75,000 in prize money. It will be held this November 5th through November 11th at the Goodfriend Tennis Center on The University of Tennessee’s campus. Every year the tournament recruits high school student volunteers to be ball persons. It’s a chance to rub elbows with tour players and experience the speed of professional competition up close and personal. Students could be asked to work early evening on a weekday, or any time on Tuesday November 6th, since there’s no school. There will be 18 training sessions held in the Knoxville area this month and next. Students can pick up a training schedule from Coach Bowman in Room LC-218. Two of the training sessions will be held on the Oak Ridge High School tennis courts, October 4th from 5-6:00 and October 7th from 2-3:00. (Tu, Th – 9/28) – D. Bowman
