Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Think you can beat Etheridge or Sauer at Fantasy Football?  How about Fowler, Schoolcraft, or Byrd?  Are you going to let these teachers show you up, or will you win bragging rights for the rest of the year?  Friday is the last day to sign up for the school fantasy football league outside of Mrs. Byrd’s room (CS328).  Come one, come all!  (8/20-8/21) – R. Attention CLASS OF 2020:

Do you want to leave your mark on ORHS?  Do you want to leave Wildcat nation better than we found it in 2016?  Mrs. Thompson is forming a Principal’s Advisory Team of students from the class of 2020 to meet with her once a month to problem solve challenges facing our school.  If you would like to be a part of this team and have lunch together once a month having honest dialogue, please fill out a the form in your Skyward account or the Google form in your email.  (8/20-8/24) – S. CLUB INFO

Thanks to Beth Adler for helping create a community at ORHS through the club survey! Those who responded positively to the Youth for Christ entry can join the club fifth period for lunch in LC330 every Wednesday.  (W) – K. Senter

Compassion Club will meet this afternoon in CS 301 at 3:15 for a brief meeting. We need to elect officers and get organized for the year. Compassion Club raises funds for students living in poverty in Spanish-speaking countries. Through Compassion International we provide textbooks, fresh water, school supplies, and school scholarships to help these students. We have very few meetings, but we work a couple of flea markets a year and the concession stand at home football games to raise funds. If you are interested in joining, please attend the meeting. Key Club will hold the first meeting of the year this Tuesday after school in CS 333. If you want to have fun while helping your community be a better place, we are the club for you. Walking dogs at the animal shelter and cleaning up the marina are only two of the many projects we take on during the year. We hope to see you in room CS333 Tuesday after school. (Tu) – B. Jernigan

Would you like to help choose the theme and plan Prom 2019? There will be a Prom Board interest meeting in LC 313 immediately after school on Wed Aug 22.  We will discuss Prom Board activities, requirements, meeting schedule, and the petition process.  All students are welcome.  Please see Ms. Eidam if you have any questions. SENIOR INFO

Seniors: Ever wondered what you’d do if you had a flat and were stuck on the side of the road, out of cell service? Ever considered checking the oil and tire pressure but weren’t sure how? Ever wondered what to do to maintain your car so that your sweet ride stays sweet? Come to the Auto Tech room in G-Building on Thursday, August 30, from 3:30-5:00, and learn all this and more from ORHS’s Mr. Ladue. All ORHS seniors are welcome. Vandy Fan for a Day provides high school students with information about the selective college admissions process, insight into Vanderbilt’s excellent scholarship programs, and an opportunity to enjoy the excitement of game day as the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, November 17th. Are you a rising sophomore or junior that feel you would benefit from a chance to participate in the Vandy Fan for a day program? If so, please see Mrs. Morris in the Counseling Office so that your name can be added to the Nominations list by Friday, September 14th. (Tu, Th – 9.14) A. Morris
