Are you interested in learning more about emotional and mental health issues in schools today? And, are you interested in learning how to assist and support your fellow high school students? Oak Ridge High School is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the Teens for Contact program. Teens for Contact is a program designed to train teens in the areas of suicide support, mental health awareness, and the emotional well-being of peers. Training and ongoing mentoring will be provided early on, and the group will meet on a weekly and/or bi-weekly basis.

Oak Ridge High School students spoke up last year via the Counseling Department’s student survey and mental health was one of the top concerns among respondents. Teens for Contact will provide participants with the training and skills to have a positive and direct impact on the overall emotional well-being of our school.

If you are interested, there will be an informational meeting on Monday 8/13 at 3:15 in the Counseling Department’s College and Career Room. If you are unable to make this meeting (or if you have missed it!) please see Mrs. Adler in LC 106 or Mr. Morrow in the counseling department. You can also reach us by email at djmorrow@ortn.edu or BAdler@ortn.edu (M) – D. Morrow
