Have you ever asked yourself the question, “What rhymes with the word poetry? The answer to this and other profound questions is available from Sarah Roth and Rachel Wiley at free NHS tutoring from 3:15-3:50 on Tuesday in the Counselling Center. (11/27-11/28) – K. Senter

Wednesday at 1:50 is the deadlines for the Branching Out poetry contest. You can submit up to three poems. There are two categories, Freshman-Sophomore and Junior-Senior; in each category, the first place winner will receive $25, second place will receive $15, and third place will receive $10. Ask your English teacher for an entry form with more details. Bring your completed entry form and poems to Ms. Sasser in CS 336. (11/28-11/29) – J. Sasser

The Youth Advisory Board is sponsoring a holiday trip to the Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, TN for Oak Ridge High School students on Wednesday, December 20th, 2017 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Bus tickets are $10.00 per person.  For an extra fee, students can enjoy lots of winter activities at the Opryland Hotel like snow tubing, ice skating, and much more.  Permission slips are available at the Civic Center Front Desk, in the Student Affairs Office, and online at www.orrecparks.org.  Spots are limited.  To register, call Matt Reedy at the Civic Center at 425-3450. There will be a Europe trip meeting tonight at 6:30 in the ORHS Amphitheater.  Those who are already enrolled should remember to bring their folders.  Only a few spots remain, so if you are interested in traveling with us, attend the meeting as well! (11/28) – L. Bailey

Josten’s will return only once more this year to collect orders for graduation supplies and class rings. They will be located in the Main Lobby and Arena Concessions’ Kiosk during lunch only on Tuesday, December 5. Seniors who have not ordered should turn in their orders on this date. After December 5, orders may be mailed to Jostens, phoned in, or ordered online. The final date to place an on-time order and avoid increased prices (double) is Tuesday, December 19, 2017. COUNSELING INFO

The National Youth Science Camp is a residential science education program for young STEM enthusiasts the summer after they graduate from high school. Students from around the country are challenged academically in exciting lectures and hands-on studies, and have voluntary opportunities to participate in an outdoor adventure program, gain a new and deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and establish friendships that last a lifetime.  CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO

The ORHS Interact Club is collecting new and gently used books for children and teenagers! The new books will be distributed during the Oak Ridge Christmas Parade and the gently used books will be added to the little libraries around our community! Look for the Christmas wrapped boxes in the lobby and in the counseling office.  (11/14, 11/17, 11/20, 11/27, 11/28, 12/1, 12/4) – A. King

The German Club would like to invite you to the Tennessee Theater on Wednesday evening at 7pm ( doors open at 6 pm). Come and enjoy a free concert by the most popular German youtube music group “Die Lochis”.These two brothers make the most amazing music and usually play in front of 1000s of people in huge arenas. It is their first time to tour the US and their only stop in the southeast is here in Knoxville before they continue to give only a couple more concerts on the West coast!!  This concert is free due to a generous donation by the German Goethe Institute.   So bring your friends and parents and enjoy a pop concert including light show for free!!!! ATHLETICS THIS WEEK

Did you miss getting your Student Athletic Pass for the year?  You can still get one and for a deal.  Only $45 and you don’t have to buy a ticket to any home season event for the rest of the year.
