The 4th graders have been working on a project called “Be the Scientist”. This project incorporated all of our science standards for this nine weeks, along with some research and writing standards. They each chose a different ecosystem and researched about the living organisms that live there, invasive species and the process of photosynthesis along with several other standards.

Each week, they would learn about a new standard and then take information they learned and apply it to their particular ecosystem. The culminating part of the project was for each student to create a shoebox that showed all of the information along with what the environment looks like. In addition, students were able to make a PowerPoint to share additional information/present the topic in a different way. The students also shared their projects with other grade levels.
