On Monday, August 20, a delegation of students and adults from Naka Shi, Japan arrived in Oak Ridge for the annual Sister City Exchange. In July, ten students and two staff chaperones from Jefferson and Robertsville Middle Schools traveled to Japan for the first part of the exchange program. Nicholas Podar, Zach Zichko, Laurel Hetrick, MaKenzie Trieste, and Christian Goethert were selected as the RMS representatives for the program; Riley Gelb, Abby Ellis, Kannon Green, Tucker Smith, and Lucas Green were the JMS representatives. Becky Childs and John Smith were the staff chaperones. Oak Ridge is now hosting the guests from Japan. During their week long stay here in East Tennessee, the Japanese visitors will attend classes at Robertsville and Jefferson, tour ORNL, and sightsee in Nashville where they will tour the State Capitol, the Parthenon, and the Adventure Science Center. They will also visit downtown Knoxville and participate in a ceremony at the Friendship Bell.
