On Wednesday, January 11, 55 students from Jefferson Middle School participated in the annual Spelling Bee. After 20 rounds, 6th grader Ian Smith placed first in the contest with Duncan Rowden and Halie Campbell finishing second and third. Ian won the bee by correctly spelling the word significance.

7th grader Quentin Delmau won the 2023 Robertsville Middle School Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 17. Quentin retains his title from last year; he was runner-up when he was in 5th grade. He won the bee in the 11th round by correctly spelling the word cirrhosis. 8th grader Zachary Robertson placed second in a highly competitive contest.

Ian and Quentin will both represent Oak Ridge Schools at the TN Titan Regional Spelling Bee later this schoolyear. Best of luck to these two excellent spellers!
