Turkey Trot 2019

Oak Ridge Schools and the Office of Coordinated School Health hosted the Annual Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 12, at Robertsville Middle School. It was a cold and snowy afternoon, but students had a great run. The Anderson County Fairest of the Fair Queens were in attendance to hand out awards and the Oak Ridge High School Cheerleaders were present to cheer on our participants!

We are happy to announce that there were 122 students who ran this year with representation from all elementary schools, both middle schools and various Oak Ridge preschools.

The winners in each group are as follows:

The following sponsors and volunteers for made this event a successful: East Tennessee Orthodontics, ASAP of Anderson, Oak Ridge Utility District, Anderson County Health Department, Oak Ridge High School track and cross country teams, Chick-fil-a, JMS basketball team, Threds of Knoxville, Aramark, National Fitness Center, and the Doubletree of Oak Ridge.

Staff and student members who made the event successful included Dr. Kirk Renegar, Dr. Larrissa Henderson, Bruce Lay, Tammy Ollis, Betsy Jernigan, Ed Wright, RMS Maintenance Staff, Shonna Kidwell, Sabrina Greene, Kathy Scruggs, Becca Stines, Katie Bolling, Amanda Brackett, Kim Cox, Cynthia Rockey, and William Guinn.  Student volunteers helped with registration, t-shirts, finish/start line and pacing the course for each race.

This event has grown each year, and we are always looking for ways to improve the race, ensuring longevity of this Oak Ridge tradition.
