Vice Principal’s Message

It is an honor and privilege to serve in the capacity of Vice Principal at Jefferson Middle School with such outstanding students, parents, teachers, staff and community partners.

We strive daily to ensure academic achievement and support while providing a safe and healthy learning environment for every student.  We deliver high academic expectations, but understand it is crucial to provide a high level of support mentally and emotionally for each student.

Oak Ridge School’s curriculum exceeds the minimum requirements of the State Board of Education, with an included focus on ensuring all students are college, career and life ready upon transitioning from 8th to 9th grade.  This is detailed in our Portrait of a Graduate work and we are very excited about continuing to share more about how POG will ensure all students are successful at Jefferson Middle School. We also offer many learning opportunities for students in the CCTE (College, Career & Technical Education) path, including but not limited to our Aeronautics program, Drones, Flight Simulators, Engineering by Design, etc.

We continue to grow and provide opportunities in the area of technology at JMS.  Various programs such as Kami, Zearn, Desmos and Zoom are used in our classrooms each day.  We are very proud of our teachers and students implementation and utilization of asynchronous and synchronous learning through the past year and are looking forward to continue providing high levels of instruction in which all students can excel.

Many of our students are involved in a variety of extracurricular activities that allow them the opportunity to grow at their own pace in a safe, nurturing environment.  Our clubs include our award winning Lego League, Chess Club, Interact Club, Athletics and many more!

Again, it is a privilege to serve you and your child each day.  If I can ever be of assistance, please reach out on my direct line at 865-425-9257 or via email at jllaurendine@ortn.edu.
