On March 6, 2021, Jefferson Middle School FIRST Lego League team, the Atomic Master Brix, competed virtually in the East Tennessee FIRST Lego League Remote Event. The Atomic Master Brix received the 1st Place Champions Award. This award celebrates a team that embodies the FIRST Lego League Challenge experience, by fully embracing the Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in Robot Performance, Robot Design and the Innovation Project.  The Atomic Master Brix also won the 3rd Place Robot Performance Award. This award celebrates a team that scores the most points during the Robot Game. Teams have a chance to compete in at least three 2.5-minute matches and their highest score counts. Our youth mentors, Amelie Nagle and Alex Shanafield, from the Oak Ridge High School FIRST Robotics Team, the Secret City Wildbots, received the Coach/Mentor Award. This award goes to the coach or mentor whose leadership and guidance is most evident, and best exemplifies the FIRST Core Values. Due to COVID, there is not an opportunity to move onto future events. However, Jefferson Middle School is excited to continue our FIRST Lego League program next season. We want to thank our sponsors for their support of this great STEM program: Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation, UT Battelle, and Leidos.
