Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Students, if you are a car rider, the permitted Drop-Off & Pick-Up areas are in front of the school loop, in the right-hand lane only, and in the Wildcat Arena Parking lot located off Providence Road. Please be sure to exit and enter vehicles promptly to keep the car lines moving efficiently.  Students may NOT be dropped off or picked up in the bus loop or the teacher parking lot located on Providence Road.

Students are reminded that the ORHS Marching Band uses the parking spaces closest to the Turnpike for Marching practice in the afternoons.  Cars parked in those areas after lunch are subject to being towed.

Lunch at Grace is back beginning Tuesday, August 11! Juniors and seniors are invited to walk over to Grace Baptist Church for lunch. For just $5, you’ll get a meal and drink from a rotating lineup of local favorites like Chick-fil-A, Buddy’s Bar-B-Q, Panda Express, Salsarita’s, and more. Grab some friends and join us every Tuesday for Lunch at Grace!

Parking Spot Painting Applications are open! Spots are $30 for both new designs and renewal of spots. Those with completed applications will then choose their spot through a lottery system on August 12th. You must turn in your application and money by August 7th to be entered into the spot choosing lottery. Spot painting is on August 14th and 15th weather permitting. See Mrs. Wagner in LC311 for more information.

CLUB INFO

No Muslim Harmony club today. Rescheduled for August 11^th at 3:15 in Room LC 335, all are welcome!

If you or a past, present, or future Teaching as a Profession student, come to Dr. Sparks’ room CS 250 on Friday morning at 7:15 to learn more about FCCLA. Come for a waffle, stay for the info.

Interested in aircraft? Would you like to build one to fly?  The Velocity XL Aircraft Build Club meets every Wednesday after teacher professional development at ~3pm. We utilize video and online directions to complete the aircraft section-by-section in the G-Building Hangar.  Come out and assist in completing this important work.For more information: Reach Dr. Patrick LaDue @ Pladue@ortn.edu

Attention humans of earth. Do you want to make the ORHS environment and the overall environment a better place? Of course you do! So head down to Mr. Alexander’s room: LC107 and check out The Environmental Club! Sign the interest form and grab a permission form for club activities. Attention all NHS members. We will hold our first meeting on Tuesday, August 4^th for elections. Please meet right after school in the amphitheater. You must be present to be on the ballot. See the Canvas page, Mr. Feuer or Dr. Thomas for more information.

Our first HOSA meeting will be on Wednesday, August 19^th at 2pm.  Come see old friends and meet new ones!  If you want to learn more about healthcare careers and saving lives, this is the club for you!   See Mrs. Wich (CS200) or Ms. Lord (CS201) with any questions.

Oak Ridge High School has officially started its own National Technical Honors Society Chapter!

If you are in any CTE clubs, classes, or programs, feel free to apply! Applications close at the beginning of next year. For more information about NTHS, find a poster around the school or email Mr. Jackson at  kjackson@ortn.edu.

Science Bowl is a nationwide competition game that is fast-paced, buzzer-type trivia focused on STEM subject questions. Interested? Come join the Science Bowl team interest meeting this Friday, August 7^th after school in room LC110! Learn to play, try some practice rounds, or even consider joining the team for the regional competition. If qualified, you could help the team advance and earn a free trip to Washington, DC!
