Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

CLUB INFO

Join Philosophy Club after school on Friday in Mr. Pickering’s room (LC322) for a discussion on cultural appropriation.

Student Council will be hosting the first school wide meeting of the year TODAY during 4th period. All 4th period representatives should report to the amphitheater at the beginning of the class period and bring your class concern forms. We will take and then send out attendance from the meeting.

National Honor Society Members: National Honor Society will offer tutoring during Operation Restoration each lunch period beginning after Labor Day. Each NHS member will be expected to volunteer for five sessions during the fall semester and eight sessions in the spring. A link to the NHS GroupMe group chat and a link to the Sign-Up Genius form to reserve tutoring slots will be forthcoming through school email. Because “service” is one of the “Four Pillars” of National Honor Society, any members who do not complete the required number of sessions may be removed from NHS.

Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honors society, will meet on Friday September 2nd during lunch in CS236.  If you enjoy competition and working with others to solve problems, please join us!

Oak Ridge High School is now looking for male and female students to join our brand new, TSSAA Men’s and Women’s Bowling teams. We will compete with schools across Knoxville and East Tennessee region and our bowling lanes are just down the street! Our practices begin ASAP and our matches begin after Fall Break. We are open to anyone with a willingness to practice and get better, but if you can bowl 150 or higher, you had better come join! Come find Mrs. Julianne Fowler in CS232 this week for more information.

Do you want to learn how to run a business, build a 150lb robot, or learn to program? Our Secret City Wildbots FIRST robotics team might be for you. We organize our team like a startup business and need a wide variety of skills; all of which you learn here. At robotics we use digital media and public relations, innovation, and really cool machinery, like a 5-axis CNC, to be the best team we can be, to win competitions, have fun, and make lifelong friends. The soft and hard skills you learn here are all real world applicable and companies in many fields are looking for these skills. We are a high-performance team that has competed at the World Championships 10 out of 11 years. If interested contact Dr. Mark Buckner at mbuckner@ortn.edu, talk to an existing member, or come see what we are all about Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-9 in the G-building.
