Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

AP exams begin on May 3rd and run through May 17th.

ORHS will be conducting our AP exam administration at the Roane State Oak Ridge campus. On the day(s) of your AP exam everyone will need to enter the Roane State campus from their Laboratory Road entrance. This is right next to the skatepark in Oak Ridge and Carl Yearwood Park. Masks are required on campus and everyone will need to complete Roane State’s wellness screening PRIOR to coming on campus each day. Students can get a card with a QR code from their AP teacher or from Mr. Foust that will take them to the wellness screening. The screening can also be found by going straight to the following website:

Once they complete this screening they can leave their browser open to that page and show it to the guard at the guard shack as they enter campus. If they don’t have it completed they will have to complete it with the guard and this will cause significant delays for everyone getting on campus potentially impacting exam start times. Students should arrive very early in case there are delays getting on campus. Please begin talking to your students about this and explain the importance of them practicing this process ahead of time and being prepared the morning of their exam.

Once students pass by the guard shack they will follow the signs and proceed to the parking lot. Goff is the first building they will see on the right. There will be signage at the building entrance indicating ORHS AP testing. Upon entering the building there will be signage indicating where they should go for their particular test.

Bonjour! French Club will meet Monday, May 10th right after school in Madame Barry’s room CS 307! We will discuss activities for next year! (5/6, 5/7, 5/10) – M. Barry

The YuGi-Oh! club will meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, after school on Friday. Bring your cards and be ready to duel until 5 pm. All students are welcome to attend.

“Words—so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them”—Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Consider this observation by Nathaniel Hawthorne and his understanding of the power of words. And in a well written essay, discuss the power of the written word and an experience when you observed directly “how potent for good and evil” words can be. Include in your 400 to 600-word response why you consider learning to write effectively an essential skill for your success in college, career, and life. (4/26-5/07) – M. Feuer
