The YuGi-Oh! club will meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, after school on Fridays. Bring your cards and be ready to duel until 4:30ish if it is not snowing. If it does snow, club will be canceled. (1/12, 1/14,1/16) – R. Colquitt

 

The NACLO (North American Computational Linguistics Open Competition) contest is on January 28, 2021. Check www.nacloweb.org for more information. Contact naclo21org@umich.edu if you have questions. This will primarily take place virtually with all students given the option to register for the open round with the “at-home” option. Registration deadline is January 15, 2021. Calling all Visual Artists and Poets:  Oak Ridge elementary, middle and high school students are invited to create works of art & poetry inspired by the Scarboro 85 and honoring the 65th anniversary of the Historic Oak Ridge School Desegregation.  The Competition theme is: “Honoring the Struggle, Celebrating the Triumphs & Inspiring the Future”.  The entry form and guidelines will be available to print from the Wildcat Daily Bulletin (you can find a link to these in your school email).  All entries due by February 19, 2021.

 

 

ATHLETIC INFORMATION

 

In accordance with Governor Lee’s Executive Order #70 and in conjunction with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association and ORHS Athletic Department, specific guidelines for attendance to Oak Ridge High School Basketball games at Wildcat Arena have been implemented:

 

Wildcat Arena Basketball Game Day Guidelines

In effect through January 19, 2021 per Executive Order #70

 

COVID-19 Guideline Requirements:

  • Temperatures will be taken at door
  • No one whose temperature measures above 100.4 will be permitted to enter
  • Masks are MANDATORY and are to be worn at all times inside Wildcat Arena
  • Social distancing

 

Participation:

  • Basketball Team – Limit of 12 players each team
  • Basketball Coaches
  • No Cheerleaders
  • No Dance Team

 

Attendees:

  • Immediate Household List

List provided by Home & Visiting Coaches to include:

Parents / Guardians / Step-parents / Grandparents / Siblings

  • School Administrators
  • Game / Facility Administrators
  • Athletic Officials
  • First Responders
  • Media and Athletic Scouting personnel attending game in their professional capacity
  • No Students or Community Members will be allowed to purchase tickets or attend the game (unless included on Immediate Household List as described above)

 

Tickets:

  • Sold at door only
  • $6 Adults  /   $5 Sr. Citizen & under 18

 

Concessions:

  • Concessions will not be available

COUNSELING INFORMATION

 

The Counseling Office is an excellent resource for scholarship opportunities!! We have a virtual college visit scheduled on Thursday, January 14th at 3:5pm with a representative from Averett University.  If you are interested in joining this visit, email Ms. Campbell at akcampbell@ortn.edu and she will send you the link. (1/7-1/14) – A. Campbell

 

 

Students interested in being nominated for the Savanah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Distinguished Scholars Award should submit their name, and a brief statement indicating why you should be considered for this award, to Ms. Taylor, no later than Friday, January 22nd.  This renewable award is $20,000 per year for tuition, and can be used at any SCAD location.  For more information, stop by the Counseling Office. Senior Information

 

The third and FINAL FAFSA Completion Night is this coming Tuesday, January 12th at the ORHS Amphitheater across from the Counseling Office. The time will be 5:30-7:30 pm. We will have a college financial aid officer with us to assist you. Please bring a laptop, your 2019 tax information and it would be best to have you and your senior’s FSAID before you attend. Go to www.fafsa.gov to register for your FSAID. You will need them to submit the FAFSA. The FAFSA MUST BE completed by February 1st for the TN Promise (two years tuition paid at Roane State or Pellissippi and/or other scholarships. (1/11-1/12) – K. Rowland
