Oak Ridge Schools is pleased to announce that Dr. Garfield Adams has been selected by a committee of teachers and administrators to serve as the new principal of Oak Ridge High School. Dr. Adams is a native of Oak Ridge and is a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He received his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville. He then went on to earn his Ed.S. in Educational Administration and Supervision and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Lincoln Memorial University. Dr. Adams was a classroom teacher for eleven years–three years at Central High School and eight years in Oak Ridge Schools as a special education teacher and behavioral specialist. He is currently entering his tenth year in administration. Dr. Adams was an assistant principal at South Doyle High School for three years and then returned to Oak Ridge in 2014, where he served as assistant principal at Robertsville Middle School and then as principal from 2015-2018. He is currently the Director of Exceptional Education for Hamilton County Schools. He will begin his new position at ORHS on November 2.
