The Oak Ridge High School NJROTC has earned the Area 9 Distinguished Unit Award.  This award is given to exceptional Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps units from their respective Area Managers. Units must set and accomplish goals for the year to attain this award. The award is the second highest commendation in NJROTC and the highest unit commendation.  Each cadet will receive a ribbon to be worn on their uniform.

Receiving the Distinguished Unit Award is a major accomplishment for any NJROTC program. The Oak Ridge High School NJROTC has earned this honorable distinction for the two of their first 3 years of service and second consecutive year. This year the program has 150 cadets enrolled and has completed over 7,700 hours of community service to the Oak Ridge and surrounding communities and has been selected to be the sole JROTC representative from the state of Tennessee and the Official Ambassador of the USS Tennessee (BB-43) in the 2020 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade.

Chief Nicholls and the distinguished cadets of the Wildcat Company would like to thank everyone for their exceptional support.  To find out how you can be part of our Distinguished Unit, please contact Chief Nicholls at rlnicholls@ortn.edu.
