Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

REGISTRATION IS THIS WEEK FOR THE AMC 10 AND AMC 12 EXAMS. The fee is $2.00 cash. You will need to register with your Math teacher. The exams will take place on January 30 and February 5, 2020 and are qualifying exams for the State Math Exam in April. (Tu-F) J. Zimprich

 

Bonjour! We will have our 2nd 2020 French Exchange interest meeting next Thursday, October 24th at 6:30PM in Madame Barry’s room CS 307. If you missed the first meeting, bring a parent/guardian and come find out more about the exchange trip! (10/17-10/18) – E. Barry

 

The final Y-12/CNS Lunch and Learn opportunity for Nuclear Science Week is today.  Come meet and learn from Veterans in Nuclear during lunch today in the library classroom.  Pizza will be provided and there is room for 30 students.  (10/17) – K. Foust

CLUB INFO

 

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) will meet at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, in CS345. Anyone with an interest in business is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served, and dues are $10. (M, Th, F) – T. Ledden

 

There will be a Key Club meeting on Monday, October 21 after school in Mr. Schoolcraft’s room, LC224. We will be discussing upcoming events and projects. (10/16-10/21) – J. Schoolcraft

 

Small Talk will meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, after school on Thursday, October 17.  Prepare to stay until 3:45 pm.

 

The YuGi-Oh! Club will meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, after school on Friday, October 18. Bring your cards and be ready to duel until 6 pm.

UNC-CHAPEL HILL AND DUKE – announces the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program. This is among the most highly sought after merit scholarships in the country.  It combines extraordinary resources at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill.   The program proves 4 years of tuition, room and board and mandatory fees, 3 fully-funded summer experiences, funding for conferences and seminars and unique access to the academic and extracurricular offerings on both campuses as well as four years of dedicated leadership development programming.  The application deadline is November 15, 2019 for all materials and is independent of the admissions deadlines for UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University.  You do not need to be nominated for this program.  For more information visit:  www.robertsonscholars.org and robertsonscholars.embark.com/apply/highschool.  (Tu, Th 10.17)

 

SOPHOMORES and JUNIORS – Anyone interested in applying to any of the Tennessee Governor’s Schools needs to stop by the School Counseling office by Friday, October 18 to submit your name and pick up guidelines and instructions for completing your application from Ms. Campbell.  You must meet deadlines set by ORHS and your application must be submitted by ORHS in order to apply.  If you have any questions please email Ms. Redman.  (10/16-10/18) – P. There will be a meeting to help parents of seniors complete the FAFSA!  Tuesday, October 22, 5:30pm, in CS208.  Set up your FAFSA Pin and we’ll have people to help you complete this important form.
