STUDENT INFO

The Driving Center is again offering Driver Education class over Fall Break. Please visit our website  www.thedrivingcenter.org for more information reguarding class times and length.  (M.W – 9.25) T. Seals

 

Intersession Forms are available in student services and the school counseling office. If you have a failing grade in a class, you have the opportunity to improve you grade during intersession, Sept. 30th through October 3. We are also offering an ACT prep course just in time for the upcoming October ACT tests. Forms must be submitted no later than noon on Friday, September 27th.  (9/19-9/27) – B. Estep

 

If you need bus transportation for intersession, you must submit a separate form requesting transportation no later than Tuesday, September 24th. Forms are available in student services. (9/19-9/24) – B. Estep

 

Jostens will return to the Main Lobby and Arena Concessions’ Kiosk on Thursday, October 17, during lunch to collect orders for class rings. Any student at ORHS may order a class ring. $60 deposit is required. Extra packets are available in CS347. (9/20, 9/23, 9/25, 10/15) – T. Ledden

 

Time is running out to purchase your yearbook at the lowest price of the year!  As of October 1, prices will go up to $75.  Right now, you may still purchase one for $65 by using the forms outside Ms. Byrd’s room (CS328) or through the website www.balfour.com  (9/23-9/25) – R. Byrd

Student Council is hosting the first ever Homecoming Cookout and Parade this Thursday night from 6-8pm at the front loop of the school. We will have a parade of clubs and sports, the official presentation of the Homecoming Court, an auction to benefit the football team, food, games, and performances. Come join us to celebrate Homecoming and hype up the community before taking on the dragons Friday night.  (9/23-9/26) – A. Wagner

 

Every Wednesday, Masquers hosts an Actors Workshop.  This is for all ORHS students whether they are involved with Masquers or not.  The goal is to sharpen your skills for the upcoming auditions for THE LITTLE MERMAID in December.  The Workshop is every Wednesday from 2-3:30 in Ms. Ragan’s room.  The workshop is taught by a professional actor and director, Amy Uptgraft, a new member of the Masquers Community Team. (9/9-9/30, MT) – V. COUNSELING INFO

 

An admissions representative from Emory University will be in the cafeteria at lunch on Monday, September 23rd. (9/18-9/23, W,F,M) – A. Campbell

 

NC STATE UNIVERSITY – is offering the Park Scholarship.  This opportunity is based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service and character.  It is a four year scholarship valued at up to $205,000 out-of-state, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses.  If you would like to be considered for a nomination by ORHS please submit a personal statement and resume to Ms. Redman in the School Counseling office by Friday, September 27. A representative from Rochester Institute of Technology will be conducting Hometown Interviews for any interested students on Monday, September 23rd at Panera Bread on N. Peters Road, 3:30-5:30pm.  You can find the link to register online on the Counseling Office Scholarship website.  (9/20-9/23) – A. Campbell

Don’t forget to attend our 39th annual College Fair from 5:30-7 tonight in the Wildcat Arena! We have over 60 colleges, universities and military representatives signed up to attend! (9/23) – A. King

Do you like hard hits?  Do you like popcorn?  Don’t wait until Friday for that!  Come to the Wildcat Volleyball match on Thursday as we host Maryville!  It’s STUDENT NIGHT!  All students get in free with their badges AND get free popcorn!!
