Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Students:  please be reminded once you arrive on campus, you are not permitted to walk or drive off campus.  In addition, once you arrive in the parking lot, you are expected to come inside the building rather than hanging out in the parking lot.  Finally, if your parent drops you off, morning drop-off is in the Arena parking lot.  Parents should NOT pull into the bus loop prior to 7:30. Do you want to help plan Prom 2020?  Come see Ms. Eidam in LC 313 to pick up a petition. The deadline for turning in the petitions has been extended to Monday Sept 16th. (F) – S. Eidam

 

Jostens will take orders for class rings and graduation supplies in the Main Lobby and the Arena Concessions’ Kiosk on Tuesday, September 17, during lunch only. Mrs. Ledden does not accept orders. Please turn in your order to the Jostensrepresentative at either location during 5th period. Any student needing a class ring or graduation supplies packet should come to CS347. $60 deposit required for both graduation supply orders and class rings. (F) – T. Ledden

 

 

CLUB INFO

 

The Interact Club will meet Monday after school in the amphitheater until around 4:15. We will be working on a few service projects! (F) – A. King

 

Join Philosophy Club after school today in Mr. Pickering’s room (LC322) for a discussion on free will and determinism. You have no choice. Or do you? (F) – A. Pickering

 

Math Club will meet Friday in Mrs. Mullins’ room, CS231.  This week’s math adventure is to work through an Interschool Exam…a math competition favorite that feels like a trivia contest with some extra math problems thrown in!  Everyone works on it together. COUNSELING INFO

 

DAVIDSON COLLEGE – announces the John M. Belk Scholarship for seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and enthusiasm, integrity, and leadership ability and potential.  This is a four-year scholarship covering tuition, fees,room and board – valued at $67,794 in 2019-2020.  If you would like to be one of the two students that Oak Ridge High School can nominate for the John M. Belk Scholarship, please submit a resume and personal statement to Ms. Redman in the School Counselingoffice by Wednesday, October 16.  (F, Tu, Th 9.18) – A. Campbell

 

21st CCLC is looking for students to serve as math tutors. If you are interested in working with Willow Brook students from 4-6 pm a couple days a week, please apply as a substitute for the Oak Ridge School district and meet with Tina Marascia at Willow Brook. Golden Door Scholars is a nonprofit scholarship organization which provides large college scholarships to high performing students with DACA. This year we are excited to announce that we will award the scholarship to up to 50 students across the country attending college in Fall 2020 who are interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Saturday, September 21st, Roane State will be hosting an HBCU Expo from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Students from 7th-12th grades can attend along with parents/guardians.  Sessions will include on-the-spot scholarships, ACT and SAT Prep Strategies, Financial Aid and Independence, and Staying safe on college campuses. Step and Stroll performances and job/military recruiters are also part of the day. SENIOR INFO

 

Seniors: if you did not receive your graduation supplies packet on Wednesday, September 11, please come to CS347 to pick up the packet. Every senior must have the official cap, gown, and tassel set to walk the stage at graduation. (F) – T. Ledden
