Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Intersession will be held March 11-14 from 8:00 to 3:30. Students may sign up for the morning session (8 to 11:30) or the afternoon session (12:00 to 3:30) or both. Intersession applications are available in the main office and the counseling office and must be signed by the teacher of the course and the parent. Students may recover failing grades for up to two courses from Term 3 or Term 2 (if they passed Term 3). ORHS is also offering an ACT prep class for intersession just in time for the ACT on April 2. ACT prep is available on a first come first served basis, and we will fill the a.m. session first.

For the first time ever, ORHS will be offering bus transportation for intersession. If students need transportation, their forms are due by Wednesday at noon, otherwise, the forms may be turned in by Thursday at noon. Buses will run in the morning and the afternoon only. There will be no drop off after the first session. Intersession is an important opportunity for students to get their grades on track and work toward earning their credits.

The Business Academy Co-op and/or Virtual Enterprise mandatory meeting will be held after school today. You may choose to attend Thursday’s meeting instead of today. The meeting will begin at 3:15 and will last until 4:00 p.m. and will be held in CS347. See Mrs. Ledden if you have questions. (Tu) – T. Ledden

 

NHS has a free tutoring triple threat in your court to help launch the last term of the year! Come see Andrew Ledden, Taku Mabvuta, and Thomas Peplow in the Counseling Center from 3:15 to 3:50 on Tuesday. (Tu) – K. Senter

 

Attention 10th and 11th graders: if you signed up to do Service Learning (aide for a teacher) next year, you must submit the Service Learning Application signed by the teacher to the Student Services by Wednesday, March 6th. If you do not turn in this signed form by the deadline, you will be dropped from Service Learning and you will have to take another class instead. (F-W) – L. Wendt

 

Are you interested in being a leader at ORHS? Student Council will be hosting a Leadership Breakfast on Thursday March 7th at 7:15 in LC 331. Students interested in student council officer or class officer positions for next year should plan to attend. Please see Mrs. Wagner for any questions or concerns. (W) – A. Wagner

 

SENIOR INFO

 

Seniors:  Convocation and graduation will be here before you know it! If you are interested in being a speaker at either graduation or convocation, please see Mrs. Flanders in CS 316 for speech guidelines and to sign up for tryouts. Tryouts will be Thursday, April 4 at 3:20 in room CS316 (Mrs. Flanders’ room). At that time, you will read your speech to a panel of judges made up of teachers and students, and the panel will select the speakers by vote.  Stop by soon to get the information. (3.5-8) – G. COUNSELING INFO

 

The Mini College Fair will be TODAY,  March 5th during 5th period. All grade levels are encouraged to get information from the college admissions recruiters. It isn’t too early for 9th and 10th graders to be learning what colleges require for admission to their schools. (Tu) K. Rowland

 

Join Sergeant Ryan Lindsey from the Tennessee National Guard in Chief Nicholls’ room TODAY, March 5th during 5th period. Lunch will be provided and students will have the opportunity to learn about the Tennessee Strong Act Tuition Assistance and Tuition Reimbursement Program. Up to 100% of in-state public tuition can be reimbursed. Students must sign up in the counseling office if they plan to attend. (  3/5) – B. Ottinger

The Maryland Institute College of Art is hosting their annual High School Juniors and Sophomores Open House on April 7, 2019.  This event is specifically geared to the needs of high school juniors and sophomores starting the research the college application process.  Special emphasis will be put on applying to art colleges, including how to put together a portfolio of artworks.

Attention 10th grade students planning to enroll in Middle College: There is a Steven L. Coffey Memorial Middle College Scholarship for Anderson County students.
